My Acer Aspire 5 has a strange issue, it boots by random buttons but not by power button?

If I press the power button, laptop won't start. But if I press spacebar, laptop boots. But if I leave that spacebar, laptop shuts down immediately.

My laptop is out of warranty now & I don't feel like getting the laptop opened. Any suggestions?

Remove charger. Then check bottom of laptop for battery reset pinhole. If it exists, gently press a paperclip into the pinhole for 30 seconds. Then let laptop rest for 15 minutes. Then plug charger back in. Wait till battery charge light turns blue. Then try to turn the machine on normally with the power button. Jack E/NJ

Had tried this yesterday, still did it again. Not working. Seems like changing the keyboard is the only way.

    Thanks for your help.

The KB ribbon cable connector to the mainboard may need to be re-seated. Jack E/NJ

Also depending on the full model number A51x-xx, there might also be a separate power button connector to the mainboard which also may have come loose or need to be reseated. Jack E/NJ
