      Chromebooks use a special bootloader that is distinct from the ones used in standard Windows laptops, you can't use them to boot just any operating system.

      Hi.The C710 is not designed to run windows.  It does not have the appropriate type of hardware for it.  Besides Windows 8 is not very good, you would probably be better with Windows 7 or your Chromebook.  The only other operating system the 710 will run easily is Linux which would probably not be easier for you.  Maybe sell your Chromebbok to a friend and buy a WINDOWS 8 if that's what you really want.  Try it first.  Good luck.  (Written on a C710)

       Perhaps you were misled by the  acer c710 chromebook web page which insists the c710 "Supported OS"  is Windows 8 - "64 bit", noless.   This makes it almost impossible to get chromebook info via this page.
