Hello, I've quite recently bought an Acer Swift 3 laptop but I no longer have access to the BIOS because I am asked for a BIOS password that I frankly never had and passed three failed attempts I got a 10-digit unlock key. Visiting sites such as https://bios-pw.org/ did not help. My laptop is still under warranty so I don't want to open it to remove the CMOS battery. What can I do to regain access to the BIOS? Thank you.

Step1:   Read the post below by sanderos.
Step2:   After you regain control, I would remove the supervisor password, although I'm not sure if that's necessary.
Step3:  Update BIOS to latest from Acer's website
Step4:   That's it.  The bug was fixed by Acer.  Feel free to create a supervisor password without worry.
Step5:   You can ask sanderos or Acer Support for their procedure if you're still unsure.

JordanB  I certainly appreciate you trying to help me here, unfortunately, sanderos's post does not apply to me in any way or form or shape, reason is, I have never even set a BIOS password on that laptop, and that's definite. Thanks for trying anyway.

ok, try updating the BIOS.  If that doesn't help, please contact Acer.

Actually, I'd like to do that, but then with what update file exactly? I went my Acer support/download page, and under the BIOS tab there isn't any downloadable file which name looks like it could solve my problem.

Any chance that you could post your complete model number?  Here's an example of a complete model #   SF315-52-51NV

It's possible that your Swift 3 is so new that they don't have a BIOS update.

I think you should contact Acer.

Sure, that's the SF315-41 model. I'll even go as far as posting the dates/names of the available BIOS updates from my account:

2019/01/02 - Revises capsule update and touchpad configuration
2018/10/12 - Updates AMD SMU version
2018/07/16 - Updates SMU version to improve system stability
2018/02/09 - Updates AMD fixes and EC firmware version

Ok,  I'm out of ideas.  I suggested updating the BIOS.   Sorry I can't help any further.  Good luck!!

I'll post Acer's support link again.

In this case I believe the BIOS update isn't to fix one of the issues listed, but rather to replace a corrupted BIOS image with a known good one.

    Hi billsey

There's two different mainboards.   Version1 and Version2.  I asked the OP to give me his complete model number.  I gave him an example of a complete model number.  He was unable to give me his complete model number.  So I sent him to Acer Support. There's nothing more I can do to help him update his BIOS since he was unable to provide a complete model number.

The release notes don't always include every single bug fix.  So you can't really draw too many conclusions based on the release notes.  But thanks for your comment.

@JordanB okay, I got Swift SF315-41-R2F6, took that from Amazon where I have purchased the laptop. Funny Acer would only give me SF315-41 though...
