OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Yes, it is normal because Predator and Nitro products are engineered to withstand higher operating temperatures than traditional notebooks. .These systems include features that help with cooling and heat dispersion. The CPU and GPU are designed to handle temperature spikes in excess of 98 degrees Celsius without causing damage to the components. It is common for PC temperatures to spike temporarily during heavy gaming or graphic usage. If the system encounters excessive temperatures that could damage the hardware, it will automatically shut down to protect the components from becoming damaged.

@Jack22 no its not normal its thermal throttling anything above 85 its bad really bad

nikhil1993 its not normal at all as i said above you have to optimize your windows undervolt and if still needed repaste it with kryonaut or similar (if you can without voiding the warranty if not you have to send it back to get repasted) follow the youtube channel link on my signature  how to optimize windows and check here for ready undervolting TS confs you also have to bare in mind that games like fortnite pubg rust etc.. are really poorly optimized try other properly optimized games in order to check your real temps

I run my V3-571G at 90c to 95c temps all the time (with gaming and some applications, it even gets to 99c) the CPU's max temp is rated at 105c and that is when it will shut the system down but, the V3-571G runs great, it does go down with normal use to 65 to 75 so I'm not worried, as my CPU the i7-3610QM is known to run hot (especially in the V3 case) and I've taken precautions and have drilled more vent holes around the bottom case fan vent hole and have also drilled vent holes in the vicinity of the bottom case, where the GPU is and this has cooled the V3 down considerably.

In your case with the Acer Predator 300 i5 you could look at doing the same and also repasting your CPU and GPU but, only use the 'Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Heatsink Fan Compound Cooling Thermal Paste Cooler which is the best, as it keeps both your CPU and GPU heat dispersion to very low levels. Cheers and hope this helps

StevenGen yes you can run it at those temps but youre thermal throttling and loosing performance and youre advice of drilling holes its not good at all you are basically advising everyone to void their warranty if they still have it have one so its a really bad advice youre giving here to new users the solution was and always will be optimizing windows/undervolting and repasting with kryonaut or similar no matter what anyone says otherwise and we are talking about a predator gaming laptops here not aspires from 7 years ago :) i also have aspires even older have 2 5740G one i3 and one i5 and one 7745G i7740QM lets not compare the power draw/heating of old laptops to today's gaming laptops they are basically all desktop specs (the non max-q ones) in a really tiny box :)

Thanks to all for the quick responses.
Hi @xapim, I am not sure about repasting, it's the brand new laptop I don't think I need that repasting this soon,
I checked your youtube channel "Hotel Hero" it seems very useful, I will try these instructions on your video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3v3o21M8gg , btw my laptop is still in warranty, applying those instructions won't void my warranty, right?

    Thanks!

Sometimes in some rare cases they come with bad thermal paste application from factory so you would have to send it back if after optimising windows and undervolt it the temps still stay the same and it's not my youtube channel it's @Red-Sand 😉

    @xapim
oh ok, thanks for the help!
For now, I just reduced the fortnight graphics quality to the minimum, and temp stays around 80, I am ok with that for now, I don't wanna mess with my new laptop, when my laptop gets little older I will try those undervolting and optimization tweaks

    Thanks!

nikhil1993 that doesnt void the warranty its just software tweaks it will nor harm it in anyway i for ex first week i got it optimized windows undervolted and repasted (as i dont have warranty stickers i can do it) also upgraded my ssd to 2tb and ram to 32gb and purchased a 3 year extended warranty :) my max temps on the latest games on max are cpu 70/75 gpu 65/70 my temps dropped down 25+ after i repasted it but in your case as you probably have seals you can just optimize windows and undervolt it and you should be just fine if your case its not one of the rare ones i mentioned above

@xapim hey I finally tried undervolting and it worked great for me, It reduced my avg temp around 15-20 C, now on medium settings my temp stays less than 70 C while playing fortnight,
for now I undervolted it by  -180mV and I can play games without any problem, so it seems stable
I will try to undervolt it more after testing it for a few more days.

    Thanks for your help!

Xapim could you help me with this undervolting and optimizing windows problem -_-. Also got peoblem with gpu fan all of a sudden started making wierd sound (sounds like it scratches something) and im bout to contact acer service about that problem tomorrow. I got predator 300 2019 with the nvidia  2060. You would make my life much less stressful. Thanks

Konstakoponen  for undervolting check here for optimizing windows check my signature but you should have it already stock pre undervolted if your temps are still high you have to get it repasted either by acer if you have seals/stickers that would void the warranty or if not yourself carefully with kryonaut or similar
