Helios 300 - Annoying Fan Noise

I recently bought a Helios 300 Laptop and not even a month of use a sound can be heard in one of the fans specifically on the graphics side. The noise sounds like it's colliding something on the inside and can be only heard when the fan's RPM is below the 3100 mark.

@K0Daichi  It's completely normal you can blame the new aeroblades 4th gen owl wingtip they were designed for the best cooling there's nothing you can do about it they are working as designed the fan curve we're designed like this in all 2019 h300 there are some tweaks u can do yourself if you're not happy like swapping the fans with plastic delta loosing your warranty of course or give it a search through the community for any other unnoficcial solution

i actually found a fix that worked for me without replacing anything,
i think the fan come with no lubrication or something that make that bad rattling noise
first you need to remove the fan from its pin after you unscrew the cover
then pull the fan away from the pin its actually connected with just magnets
watch this video  for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewbMYAB0qwM
then lubricate the pen with oil or if you have something better i done it with a car engine oil and it works really great
i took a cotton ear swap and dipped it in the oil and lubricated the pen
carefull not to get messy and touch also the hole between the magnets with the ear swap try to get the oil in but not much
be sensitive and take your time
be carefull when removing the 3D fan because it actually hard to pull this one out not like the CPU one its very easy
and try not to damage the fan try to use all your finger to pull it out
now put all the things back and try if this fixes any thing and please let me know if it does.
and yeah another thing if you look closely you will see (or in my case) a red paint or a red something that was on the fan if you saw somethig like that try to get a razor or a knife and scratch this paint as i think it was doing some uneven weight on the fan when it spin and again try to be carefully and dont damage the fan and i washed the fan with water and soap because its stainless steel I think 🤔 then alcohol ofcourse and let it dry before putting it back together.

My gosh, if this is noise is normal I would just refund it and buy a desktop.

strider16 its completely normal for the aeroblades 4th gen owl wing tip fans on low/idle rpm 2500+ rpm everyone complains about how noisy they are but theres nothing that can be done about it its the design itself they were designed to provide the best cooling not to be quiet :)

@xapim no problem! since acer seems to be going for performance and cooling, this is actually good! But getting fan noise even with lower rotations, something isn't right. My g3-572 have two metal fans and aren't noisy at lower rotations, it seems a regression to me.

@strider16 we have older gen aeroblades on our G3-572 😊 all h300 2019 have the new gen I suppose also the t500 but they don't have the same fan curve they can stop the fans under 40 like us the 2019 h300 can't the fan curve it's more aggressive 😉

I swear I haven't heard of the rattling sound the first few days I bought this laptop but if that's the case, okay then.

Quite disappointed if that's the case but I'm enjoying my laptop so far and there's nothing much I can complain.

My wife has the Helios 300 17" 2019 and I hear the rattle as well.  I tried to clean it and lube it and it still makes the noise.  I know the noise is not supposed to happen because I have a helios 300 15" 2019 and it doesn't have the rattle noise.  I can't find a replacement metal GPU fan (NS85C28-19G06) anywhere; however, I noticed that the Acer Predator Helios 700 uses this fan as well.  Acer Predator Helios 700 PH717-71 Cooling Fan 85*85*15.5 23.Q4YN7.002 or Acer Predator Helios 700 PH717-71 Laptop Cooling Fan 100*95*15.5 23.Q4YN7.001.  There are tons of these out there for $50.00.  Can someone confirm if I can replace the Helios 300 fan with the Helios 700 fan and which one would be the replacement?

I did exactly the same thing except I also kept the screws just a little bit loose for the chassis of the GPU fan and the lawn mower sound is barely audible

I created an account to reply to you. Maybe don't tell people everything is normal and the laptop wasn't designed to be quiet, when that's clearly not the solution. I guarantee when Acer designed this laptop and used the 4th gen fan, they did not expect a fluttering noise to happen in so many units.

For anyone having this problem still and checking online for info, don't look in the Acer forums.

K0Daichi MakeOutHill and also for everyone else ill leave this warning/advice this will not work with all fans some can be removed some cant you will break them if u try to do so acer uses many types of fan manufacturers and in fact on the new 2020 H300/Nitro this cannot be done at all if the fan doesnt come out easily do not force it you will break it :)

    Hello.

17.10.20 I bought Acer Predator Helios 300 PH317-54. After less than two weeks, the GPU fan started to rattle at low RPM <3000. I am convinced that on the higher RPMs this sound was simply drowned out by noise. I browsed through tons of guides on what to do with it. The only option is to replace the fan with a new one.

    The fan number is 23.Q5MN4.001.

I have a laptop under warranty, of course. Acer service sent me a new fan after two days! from reporting the problem (I declared that I would replace it myself, which in general turned out to be super easy and took me less than 10 minutes.). I'm shocked at how fast they work!.
