Hi everyone,

When I try to connect headphones in, there is a pop up menu asking what device I just plugged in. I select headphones but nothing happens. So I have to open "realtek audio console" and select headphones from advanced settings everytime I plug my headphones in. Any idea on how to make it automatically recognize the headphones ?

    @JackE AKG brand audio jack headphones. Predator PH317-53-77-AQ. The thing is, it was fine until I follow the instructions on this video: https://youtu.be/XTPMwQKlfPE.

    Plug headphones in. Open Settings. Search "headphone". Click 'find & fix audio playback problems'. Click the advanced button near the bottom of the popup box. Click next and let the troubleshooter try to detect and change the settings that created the issue. Jack E/NJ

    @JackE I did. Nothing changed. I believe my computer doesn't recognize the headphones at all, because at audio settings it only shows speakers even if I am using headphones. https://prnt.sc/qruo3r

    While the audio playback settings box is displayed, try gently pulling the headphones slightly out of the jack and pressing it from side to side to see if they appear in settings. It may simply be a contact issue with the internal jack sliders not making good contact with the plug's rings. Jack E/NJ

    @JackE no it doesn't. I hardly doubt it is a contact issue because when I plug headphones there is a pop up menu lower right asking me which device did I just plug in. I choose headphones but sound keeps streaming on speakers. Then I have to go to realtek console and manually select headphones option. There are 2 headphones options I believe one is for headsets but either one them is working well for me. Should I try reinstalling my audio drivers?

    Your earlier comment bothers me >>>The thing is, it was fine until I follow the instructions on this video: >>>

    You made a LOT of changes to the settings. Did you perhaps change any drivers as well? My problem is that it's detected in the realtek audio controls but not the usual Windows audio controls. Unless you can re-trace your steps and change back some of those settings, it may require more than just re-installing the drivers. If you can't re-trace, then may you should simply try to uninstall all the audio drivers, exit Device Manager without re-installing anything. Shutdown. Then re-boot and let Windows auto re-detect and re-install the drivers. Jack E/NJ

    That video has a bunch of bad advice that should never be followed.

    @JackE It was fine before but sometimes headphones needed to be plugged twice in order to work (not a contact issue tho, everytime I plug a pop up window appeared). And after I tweak some of the settings as video suggested(i did not do everything on the video, I only disabled application accesses to my camera, microfon etc) this happened. I have a new discovery thou. When the pop up menu shows up, instead of pressing ok, I just click anywhere on the menu. It does two things. Opens realtek audio console, and canalizes sound to my headphones. Strange, isnt it? So I don't have to open advanced settings and select headphones anymore. Pop up menu looks like this: https://prnt.sc/qrzeli. Now I'm gonna rewatch the video and undo the things I do. Let's see if it is going to work.

    @Joe9844 Seems like it.

    Hello,

    The solution that worked for me was going to the app settings of your "Realtek Audio Console" and setting the app permission to run in background. Just turn on the "Background apps" settings.

    Hope it helps.
