Hi, I usually use my Chromebook in one room of the house and leave it plugged in. However, I needed to do some work in another room, but when I unplugged it and tried to switch it on using the battery it wouldn't switch on. When I plugged it back into the power supply it flashed up, no problem. Looking at the battery icon it seems to be stuck saying "80% - calculating". How can I fix this problem?

Sounds like it may need a new battery.

Acer really needs to sort out this very common problem. This is the last Acer product for me.

This is usually an artifact of the ChromeOS not keeping good track of the battery numbers. They gradually get more and more corrupted as the system ages. Google has done some updates in the last few years to minimize the issue, but don't have everything completely fixed. The short term solution is usually a battery recalibration (several full cycles of discharge until shutdown due to low battery followed by a full charge before turning it back on), but even that only lasts for a while.

Did you ever get this sorted, I have the same issue? I've also bought a new battery, installed it and this one says '71% - Calculating...' and switches off when the charger is removed! Arrgghhh!

@Stooee did you try the battery calibration routine? Was the battery an original or a clone?

    dileeksame issue...79%... calculating
I did the hard reboot with refresh and power button
I did the crosh as above (dileek) but it changed nothing. I tried restarting... what was the crosh move supposed to do?
where do I go to get the battery replaced? will that help? There is no way it could be used up - I haven't had this thing a year and I don't use it even once a week for short blasts of time...
