Hello everyone. I have been having some issues with my Acer Nitro 5 laptop. When i first ordered my laptop it worked perfectly, No stutters, no frame drops, it was perfectly smooth but the past few months it has changed dramatically. I used to be able to run gta 5 on high to very high settings at a very stable 60 - 80 fps. But when i load up the game now it starts at around the same fps as i was getting before but now i get really bad stutters and frame drops and i dont know what to do. I even tried to run minecraft and i was still getting stutters and frame drops. that definitely shouldn't be happening with a gtx 1050 and an i5 processor. My exact model is Nitro AN515-52. And yes i do keep my nvidia drivers up to date, and yes i have my graphics processor set to high performance nvidia processor. Its not just happening with games though, its also happening when opening apps and browsing the internet. For example when i click my search bar in the bottom left corner sometimes it will take a couple seconds before it does anything, and when im watching a video on youtube sometimes my whole screen will go green for a second then go back to normal. I have factory reset my the laptop multiple times hoping for it to fix it but nothing has changed.

    Hi @BrodieLee

You can try increasing the virtual memory in your computer and that might boost up your system performance. Please follow below steps for increasing Virtual Memory.

How to calculate Windows 10 Virtual Memory / Pagefile

There is a formula for calculating the correct pagefile size. Initial size is one and a half (1.5) x the amount of total system memoryMaximum size is three (3) x the initial size. So let's say you have 4 GB (1 GB = 1,024 MB x 4 = 4,096 MB) of memory. The initial size would be 1.5 x 4,096 = 6,144 MB and the maximum size would be 3 x 6,144 = 18,432 MB.

    1. Bring up the System page by either:
      • Pressing the Windows logo key Windows logo key + Pause
      • or
      • Open File Explorer by left-clicking the manila folder icon on the Taskbar or pressing the Windows Logo key Windows logo key + E at the same time. When File Explorer is open, right-click on This PC and select Properties on the context menu that appears.
    2. Make note of the installed memory (RAM)
System page inside of Windows 10
    3. Click on the Advanced system settings link
    4. Click on the Advanced tab of the System Properties dialog box
System Properties dialog box inside of Windows 10
    5. Click on the Settings ... button in the Performance section
    6. Click on the Advanced tab of the Performance Options dialog box
Performance Options dialog box inside of Windows 10
    7. Click on the Change ... button inside of the Virtual memorysection
    8. Deselect the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives check box
Virtual Memory dialog box inside of Windows 10
    9. Select Custom size and enter the initial size and maximum sizeusing the calculation shown above
    10. Click on the Set button

I've had problems with my Nitro 5 being slow ever since I first bought it, and the fixes I've tried haven't helped. Honestly starting to think it's just poorly built :/ Trying to decide how soon to bite the bullet and replace something that I bought less than a year ago.

Sounds like a Windows 10 or a 3rd party software problem because it affects more than games. Reboot and press Alt + F10 to reinstall windows sometimes you just need to clean house, beware it can take a long time. After reinstallation of Windows if all is working well, install your 3rd party software, games and apps, one at a time and check the performance after each one that you install, that way if one of them is affecting the system you will know which one.

    Hi guys i've recently bought(LITERALLY JUST GOT IT YESTERDAY AUGUST 23, 2019) my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52 i5 8300H with GTX1050ti 4 GB RAM

But aside from that, it already has an updated windows and bios. i have enabled the nitrosense, tried file page size allocation, increased number of processors and memory in msconfig, the battery optimization, the nvidia graphics optimization and no i did not install anything yet it is really just slow on even browsing on microsoft edge, mozilla or any toher browser or from switching applications, reading my files(mp4, docx, etc.) that i have to skip all my work for today and hopefully not the next days, by some luck atleast my boss showed some sympathy.

Use display driver uninstaller(ddu) completely uninstall your graphic card and then reinstall

I’ve been having the same issue. I’ve had to send my acer in to the factory twice and both times it has come back worse than before. Wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone who requires a computer that can run basic software.

Update: it broke again, says no bootable devices. Had this problem 3 times now. Garbage product from a garbage company.
