Hi, I have the Acer aspire 5 A515-51G-523L and I put the power on and the screen only blinks once. Also blinks when I turn it off pressing the power button for 3 seconds.
I tried to update the bios with a flashdrive and I didn´t have any results.
I also tried to push the battery reset button and plug an HDMI cable. No results so far.
Also CMOS battery reset, I disconnected the RAM memories, the Hard Drive, took off the battery, and the CMOS battery.
Then I Connected carefully everything again and no results. Same blink in the screen when I turn on the computer.

Is there a practical solution to this?

Thank you very much.

  • Can you be more specific? When you said that the screen blinks, then it looks like it's off? Can you see the bios image on both the notebook monitor and an external monitor? Have you tried disabling fast start up?

Ever tried to press the fn + f6 or window + p?

Hey, egydiocoelho, thank you for your answer, I tried that and nothing happens either.
The BIOS screen doesn´t appear at the beggining of the Power On sequence.

I already read many things about black screen, watched many videos, but nothing with this model, so I need to ask here.
I wish you or anybody would help me. Thank you so much, you`re very kind.
  • OK! Try this: turn on the notebook and wait for the notebook to finish loading the windows! After the hd led stops blinking, press the shift key and then press the power button to turn off the notebook! Just release the shift key when the notebook turns off completely! That way you disabled fast start up windows. Now connect an external monitor and see if the image appears!

Did you try to update the BIOS before this happened? Jack E/NJ

Tried this, but no results egydiocoelho.
Is there any chance that this kind of error would be related to the graphics?

    Thank you very much

Hi JackE, the BIOS update was one of the possible solutions I read in some cases like this, so i tried after the black screen and blink appeared.

Did you have the same error? Thank you so much.
  • This may be happening because of the ribbon cable! It's possible he's badly connected! Check these two slots:

I think it`s well connected, look at the picture

I don´t find the other one. I took this picture so anyone can tell me where it is.

    Thank you so much.

No can't assume that. It may look well connected but contacts may be dirty inside. Do like @egydiocoelho  suggests, just re-seat the mainboard connector a few times to clean the contacts. Don't bother with the other end unless it's easy to get to. Jack E/NJ

Ok, I just did that, tried to power on again. No results yet.

Any other chance? Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

    >>>plug an HDMI cable. No results so far.>>>

The fact that HDMI out is acting the same way suggests the graphics adapter is suspect. Jack E/NJ

Try HDMI out again to a TV. Try to turn it on with the FN+F5 or FN+F6 toggle key combos. Jack E/NJ

Thanks JackE, but no results yet.
Tried once On th FN+F5 or F6 and before I push the Power button, no response yet.

    What can it be?
  • I would now try to see the connection inside the monitor! Watch this video on how to change the screen of your model, which shows the ribbon cable or edp cable:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfmR_bbh2OU
However it is more likely to be a problem in the graphics adapter, as said colleague JackE! If it was just a problem on the notebook monitor, the image should normally appear on an external monitor!
I suggest you stop opening the notebook and send it to the Acer service center if the notebook is still in the warranty period!
