I have been trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 on an out of the box Swift 5 (2019) without success. I have upgraded the BIOS and I am using Ubuntu 18.04.4 from a usb stick. After the grub menu, the selection of keyboard, WiFi, etc, I get to the point of installation type and there are no options there (see image: https://i.stack.imgur.com/YaUNy.jpg).

When using "Try Ubuntu" in grub, it works, but I get the following errors: ACPI BIOS error (bug)… etc (see image: https://i.stack.imgur.com/c8FUM.jpg)

Any ideas?

    Good evening Kostas79 !

    Starting from the basics ...
    ISO must be exclusively x64bits
Bios must be in satanode AHCi and set in Uefi
    Secureboot must be disabled

Thanks for your help! Before I posted the question, I already checked the ISO (x64, and fine after media check in grub), turned bios in UEFI, and disabled secureboot. Nothing changed. Can't install Ubuntu/freezes.

However, I cannot see how I can turn the computer to AHCI since it comes already in Windows 10. The BIOS does not offer this option, and trying to enable AHCI through the registry editor (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/how-to-enable-ahci-for-ssd-in-windows-10/18ee0b43-47a9-4344-b0c8-1e8546be2c82) did nothing.

    Any ideas?

The AHCi issue has nothing to do with Windows.
Just access Bios with secureboot disabled and have created the superuser password.
If the option is not accessible, press Ctrl + S

I have already setup a superuser password. Nothing. Trying to make a new bootable USB stick now following the instructions at: https://www.infofuge.com/how-to-install-ubuntu-on-acer-swift-5-from-usb/

To summarize the attempts, I have:
    - Updated BIOS
    - Changed BIOS to UEFI
    - Disabled secureboot
    - Set superuser password
    - Created a bootable USB stick with the instructions listed here: https://www.infofuge.com/how-to-install-ubuntu-on-acer-swift-5-from-usb/ (i.e. MRB, FAT32, "list USB...", "add fixes..." options)

And it still refuses to recognize the SSD disk to make the installation.

Thanks! This was the last, missing, step.

Changed SATA to AHCI mode. This was the trickiest part as the option was hidden in the BIOS menu. It became available by hitting ctrl-s once in the appropriate BIOS menu.
