My g3-571-77hq stopped working. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me why. I finally did a much closer inspection to find this.

I cant find the chip anywhere online to repalce it. From what I've been able to gather is that it's the ROM for the bios. Ive checked voltage on the board everything seems okay for power distribution. Just hoping it's salvageable.

    Good evening RaginRed !

The point is that if any internal track was damaged or broken, recovery is possible.

The simplest way is for you to get the ACER G3-571-77 motherboard circuit board diagram and trace that chip to the description on that diagram, as by reading the markings on that chip, nothing comes up. See this site as they have schematic diagrams or a circuit diagrams of most motherboards at: https://www.schematicsunlimited.com/a/acer/acer-extensa-500-laptop-service-manual or try and get it from Acer or get Acer to fix this problem.

I have been trying to source a schematic since your post and it all seems to lead to very unsavory websites. Acer won't be of any help they wouldn't fix it they would just try and sell me a new one. I bought it refurbished. I got a bout a year and a half out of it before the chip blew up. I spent a lot of time getting its thermals under control. What sucks is as soon as I had it running perfect, it died. I really don't think I can find a way to resolve this which sucks. Basically threw away 900 bucks.

That's very unfortunate, is there an electronics shop near you? I mean a specialist electronics repair shop where you can show a technician or send the mobo and that burned out chip for him to look at it? You need someone that specialises in these sorts of things and who has access to chips and electronics etc that the public can't! That chip doesn't looks very hard to replace and the mobo doesn't look very damaged. That would be my suggestion, otherwise, see if you can buy a second hand mobo off the internet.

@RaginRed   Unless you find yourself a really good microelectronics engineer that could find the exact chip and fix it (most probably not cheap at all) I'm afraid the only solution is to get either a donor mobo (very expensive always prepare 500/600$+) or a new laptop even sending it to acer they will replace the full mobo they don't repair mobos on service centers only anything that's removable heatsink fans cables etc when it's faulty/burned they are sent back to the the factory to get it refurbished to replace someone else's and that's the main downside of buying refurbished might last long or not you never know its a hit and miss

I have an update. I was able to find a reputable dealer in schematics. I was able to read over them and look at the boardview on CAD software. I know the part I need and it's only like 8 bucks. I think I will need to find a professional to solder the chip back on. My skills are not up to that small of a work space. The 1-5 side that blew out was where all of the electricity came in. Preventing a good part of my board from getting power. Now I just need to find a nearby advanced repair shop and hope it doesn't cost as much as a new laptop to have them solder on a new chip.

    The part is SY8288RAC_QFN20_3X3
