Triton 900 - Hotkeys & Turbo Button Non-Functional

Hello,

Proud owner of a Triton 900 (PT917-71) my first gaming laptop from acer. The laptop itself came with Windows Home, but as I am frequently building out docker containers I needed the virtualization technology offered by Windows Pro. Post upgrade, everything seems to be working fine except for the P, 1, 2, 3, and Turbo buttons which sit above the physical keyboard.

Backlights work for all of these buttons, and when I change their function in the PredatorSense application, the colors all update as expects. However, upon pressing any of them nothing happens. After doing some digging, I ended up here: (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PredatorSense\UEIP\Hotkey)

I don't know what these values are supposed to be set to in the version of Windows which ships with this computer, or if they have anything to do with the buttons themselves. I have read other posts which mention changing the value of TurboKey to 0,0 but that alone doesn't seem to work for me. Prior to performing the upgrade, all of the keys were working well but they were rarely used. Definitely not a huge loss, but I would rather have everything functioning properly.

Any help would be appreciated, especially if someone could post their values for these registry entries.

Did you try to update any of the ACER drivers, particularly pSense, chipset and turbo yet? https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7963?b=1

First of all, thanks for helping me with this. I went through that page after I performing the upgrade an installed everything under drivers and applications. I've also just gone through it again and re-installed everything just to make sure I didn't miss something. There are two that I can't install because the shell script produces an error, but they are both audio related.

After a few restarts associated with uninstalling and re-installing the drivers, I'm still faced with the same issue. I am on version 3.0.3136.0 of Predator Sense and 3.00.3136 of Predator Sense Service.

EDIT: Does order of installation matter? I believe that Predator Sense was one of the first things I installed, before any of the drivers.

Figured I'd do my due diligence and see how far I could get with Acer Support in resolving this, as it turns out according to the technician I spoke to the drivers which enable those buttons to function just don't work on Windows Pro editions, so for anyone else running into this issue the only way to get the buttons to work is to go back to Windows Home.

So, Jack's advice is spot on here, you take what you can get and try not to break anything in the process. Unfortunate, but I'm still loving the computer.
