Last week my girlfriend used my Acer Chromebook 15 as a guest to go online with instead of her phone. everything seemed well and fine for her. she shut the computer off and put it away. I take the computer out 2 days ago, i log in with my password, go to open one of my apps, and its gone....along with all the other apps i installed.also anything that was in my downloads is now gone.. i check my google play account for games installed. first it showed they weren't there, then after a while it showed they were installed, then downloading, all the missing ones... so what was gone for apps, now mysteriously made it back on but all my progress on any of the GONE. would love to know if this has happened to anyone else? and if there is a fix/recovery?. you used to be able to recover a computer back to a certain time but not sure if that is a thing anymore.

We recently had another user here who had the downloads disappear when they had trouble logging in. I'm guessing it's a new security feature that Google has implemented with perhaps not enough testing.

Well, as far as I know the computer didn't enter a recovery mode, though not sure if it would give me a message if it did and girlfriend said it gave her no problems logging in as guest. I will definitely be sure to move my downloads to a more permanent folder from now on. Now that I know the "my downloads" is more of a temp folder. but not sure what to do about my apps still.

Whenever I've started up a new Chromebook and logged into my Google account my apps have been installed automatically for me. I can't remember if that was an option I set in my Google account or if it was the default behavior. I'd expect it to be the same with this instance, since Google seems to think you are new.

Thank you all, for the insight on my issue. I guess i'm going to chalk this up as a learning curve for new computers. This is the first computer I have had since Windows XP and boy do I ever miss it :(
I will be sure to back up everything i have, frequently.
