My predator 17 has recently started making a periodic static noise from the front left speakers.  I have seen that others have had this issue but have not found any solutions.  Has anyone figured out a way to fix this?  I have a G9-973.  I use this for business, so this is going to become a problem quickly.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If this is happening only when your laptop is under heavy load, then it is probably an issue that only a motherboard replacement can fix.

If the issues in this thread or this one are what you are encountering, no other fix ever worked.

Thank you. Yep, that is what I am experiencing.  Nice.

Sorry to hear that. Many of us got “lucky” and the failure occurred while still under warranty.

I have found the issue that is causing the buzzing out of the speaker.

The chipset chip is located right next to the speaker connector and the chipset doesn't have any sort of cooling so the heat is just spreading from the chipset chip and is messing with the electrics which causing buzzing on the speaker. I have already replaced the suspect speaker with a new one and it continued to buzz after a few months of usage again. There is no real fix for this, since even a new motherboard will eventually develop the same symptoms, it is an oversight/design flaw of acer.

The only suggestion I can give is to totally remove the speakers from the computer and just use the headset for the remainder of your laptop usage.
