I currently have two identical ViewSonic 1080p hi-def monitors on my current desktop
I would like to set them up with my new Nitro 515-53 notebook as an extended desktop that I can use In place of the monitor on the notebook itself...

this is the way I have currently been doing it with my personal desktop unit which I'm replacing with this notebook

the problem lies in the fact that the notebook only has one HDMI port although I understand it's possible to operate one of the monitors Via the USB C port...

has anyone managed to successfully create this configuration?

and if so how?

thank you for your input!

    Good Morning PoppaJim !

What EXACT model of your laptop?
Only USB-TypeC 3.1 Gen2 connections with Thunderbolt support can transfer video data.

If it is not the case of your model, only the HDMi connection would be available.
So I could test a splitter like this:

    or this

My understanding is Splitters only mirror your monitors ( both monitors show the same thing at the exact same time) they will not extend them.

What I am looking for is an extended display so not to monitors that show the same picture but one monitor that shows a single desktop that spans across the two...

According to everything I've read so far that's not possible with a splitter and a single HDMI port

I am not sure if the USB C port in my notebook is Thunderbolt compatible or not although it is supposed to be 3.1 Gen 2.

Okay.... That looks like a distinct possibility.
is there any particular reason why that model would be better than say this one
    https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Graphics-Multiple-Monitors-2560x1440/dp/B01C6HBJOA/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Plugable+USB+3.0+to+HDMI&qid=1561052329&s=electronics&sr=1-3

this would save me from buying some cables cuz everything's already cable for HDMI

Actually in your case, the converter with HDMI adapter would be most advisable.

I ran into the same issue and I was wondering if those adapters worked for you.
