Can I use M.2 2280 PCIe SSD with Acer Aspire GX-781

Hello good people,

My son has an Acer Aspire GX-781 with 256 GB of SSD, which I would like to upgrade. As far as I can tell, the motherboard has one single M.2 slot with room for a 2280 card.

The BIOS tells me that the currently installed SSD is using the SATA interface (must be SATA 3?).

My question is this: If I purchase a new, larger PCI EXPRESS SSD, will it work with the GX-781 motherboard, as long as I'm sure it has an M.2 connector and the 2280 form factor?

Thanks in advance. 🙂

    Good evening mookid8000 !

If your motherboard does have an M.2 slot in factor 2280, support is only for SSDs in the Sata 3 standard.
    PCIe NVMe is not supported.

    Hi @mookid8000
Crucial advertise this PCIe 1TB as compatible, if you like to try it, go ahead at your own risk, they guarantee the compatibility, so no harm in trying.

Beware. I tried crucial based on their guarantee. It does not work and now crucial will not refund. Do not try it
