Predator G9-792 Was stuck in boot loop. Now screen won't turn on

Hey guys
I've got a 17.3" Predator G9-792 that I bought almost 4 years ago.  A bit old now but still ran flawlessly until about a month ago.  I had it on overnight and when I checked on it in the morning it had completely frozen.  So I tried turning it off and back on but it was stuck in a boot loop.  The Predator logo would display and I could access the bios page normally, but immediately after, it would restart itself endlessly.

Things I tried while this was happening:
-Countless power cycles, including trying to let it attempt the automatic startup repair.
-More power cycles using the battery disconnect button
-Restoring windows from USB (there's no recovery partition on the ssd) - this also wouldn't boot.
-removing and reseating all RAM sticks, using one by one in different slots
- "resetting" BIOS setting from BIOS menu
-disabling quick boot and virtually every other BIOS option available from the menu
-removing and reseating BIOS battery
-generally checking pretty much every connection under the hood

Nothing really changed the entire time.  It would always stay on a boot loop until I turned it off manually or unplugged the power cord.
I've been periodically trying to turn it on since then to see if anything fixed itself (I've seen weirder things happen) but recently it has gotten even worse to the point that the screen doesnt even turn on now.  The power turns on and stays on, but doesnt appear to attempt to boot at all anymore and no screen activity whatsoever.  No change using HDMI or anything either.

At this point, the only thing I can think of is that the motherboard is fried.

If anyone has any other guesses or suggestions, I would be very very grateful!

    Hey guys,
So update - I got it working.
I pulled apart pretty much the whole laptop piece by piece.  Cleaned everything meticulously and applied new thermal paste to the CPU and GPU.  And what do you know, it actually turned on.  Had to go to work about 10 minutes after it powered on, but hopefully it's still alive when I get home and that fixed the issue.
I'm assuming it was either overheating or something was shorting.  I did notice when I took it completely apart that it had a large excess of thermal paste which was spilling over the sides quite a bit so this very well could have been the problem.
    Thanks for the tips, though!

In BIOS, enable D2D recovery option and then shut down. Start PC and keep pressing Alt+F10 simultaneously and do a reset.
Trying to do my best here - Your happy Predator owner =)!

The screen wont turn on anymore so I dont have access to the BIOS page.  I did try a version of this when the screen was working to no avail, though.

Button Interlock - yes, made sure nothing seems broken and fashioned a tower of tape to make sure it gets pressed, as recommended by users here.

Battery rtc -  do you mean the cmos battery?  I've tried reseating it and I've never noticed the clock being off or anything else that usually happens when the battery dies.  I'll see if I can find a new one anyway just to check for an easy fix
  • It would be interesting to check the rams memories as well.
