Acer Nitro was super hot after charging and now the battery is draining quickly

Hello, I bought an Acer Nitro 5 (link below) about 3 weeks ago and have encountered a problem.  Up until this morning it had been working fine but this morning when I unplugged it from the charger the bottom of the laptop was quite hot and now the battery is draining a lot faster.  When I turned it on the fan kicked in and it cooled down pretty quick.  Usually I would get 5-6 hours from a full charge and now it lasts 2-3 hours.  It was almost like it didn't go to sleep when closed the lid (which it is supposed and had always done before).  I'm going to let the battery run dry and give it a full charge and to see if that works but I figured in the meantime I would see if anyone had any advice to offer before I call Acer tomorrow.  Also, I don't know if this is normal for these laptops or not but I usually have to press the power button 10-15 before it actually comes on.

As I said pressing the Power button that many times is not normal and considering how new the laptop is I would return it to Amazon

No pressing the Power button that may times is not normal. Do you have a virus scan enabled during the inactive period because that would account for the battery drain during sleep, so check your Virus scan settings also check Task Scheduler. Finally let the battery get down to about 5% NOT 0%

I just checked and didn't see anything scheduled.  It was also plugged in so I don't see why that might drain the battery while it was supposed to be sleeping.  I'm not the most tech-savvy person so if you like I can post screenshots in case I'm misreading something.  As it stands I'm thinking I might have to call Amazon and get a new one.

Alright, looks like I'll be exchanging it then.  Thanks for your help.
