in an effort to fix this, I have:
- restored original start up settings
- upgraded original hard drive to a Samsung 860 EVO 1TB (successfully migrated data with Samsung Magician)
- Kaspersky and Defender up to date (ran full scans numerous times)
- I use System Mechanic..... used all available tools to try fixing before and after SSD upgrade.

The only thing that changed recently was adding a new Epson WF-3720 printer a few days before this started, but I installed the same Epson printer on my laptop and it's fine.

Thank you

With the old hard drive, this "page unresponsive" message would take much longer to resolve but it still happens now with the SSD, I'm just not waiting nearly as long now....

Do you still have Kaspersky and Defender running at the same time? Two AVs at once often lead to big performance issues.

They may have been..... now that I have restored the OS, I will make sure that doesn't happen.  Thanks, hadn't thought of that.

I worked on a system a couple of months ago that had four different AVs active. Each time the trial ran out on one they installed a different one, but never removed the old ones. It took literally ten minutes to boot into Windows, and close to twenty more to get the first old AV uninstalled. They were amazed at the difference after I'd cleared off everything but Defender. :) "It runs just like a new computer!"
