Does NVME M.2 SSD will work on my laptop model? The model is Acer Aspire E5-475G-39SA Intel Core i3-7100U. I'm planning on buying this M.2 https://www.lazada.com.ph/products/kingston-a2000-250gb-m2-nvme-pcie-ssd-sa2000m8250g-i416896768-s1021774877.html?spm=a2o4l.cart.0.0.62283e17oqpMSX. Does the Gen3.0x4 meaning is the one that I highlighted in the picture? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Check PCI Express Root Port 9, if it has Maximum Link Width of 2x you can use a NVMe SSD, Port 1 is for your graphics card, most probably you will be able to install a NVMe SSD but it's better to make sure before buying.

    Hi,
This is the screen cap of the port#9. Can I use the Gen3.0x4 NVMe on this?

I don't think port #9 is of any significance towards assessing whether the system is NVMe capable or not... for example mine implements NVMe 1.3 and has a 4 lane PCIe connection, but port #9 shows 1x.

Is there anything already connected to that port? Expand that port and see if there is, for me it's the GbE adapter. I'm running on RST+Optane mode instead of AHCI and still the controller appears the same as you, independently dangling off of the PCI bus #0 as SATA RAID 0/1 Controller (but my system is Comet Lake based, so it could be different on its own).

But! This thread is probably relevant for you (already the first post of it): https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/549565/m-2-nvme-support-for-acer-e5-475g

    Hi @rrcunanan
Yes, you can install a M.2 NVMe SSD and it will work =) after installing the SSD, please check Port 9 and it will show your M.2 NVMe SSD, it will work at half the speed advertised by the manufacturer.

@brummyfan2, this is what it displays when i expanded port#9

It doesn't display my m.2 ssd, but it is working since I already cloned my OS and files on it.
