Looking to see what peoples light bleed is like - all around the screen i get spots on the edge of the screen that when on a black screen or watching letterbox films are really annoying seeing spots of white light bleeding onto the screen in various different spots or when using in a dark room. thanks :)

How about showing us your screen? There are reports of some moderate light bleeding around the edges. But it's difficult to compare from images of different machines unless they're side-by-side machine image.  Jack E/NJ

That was always the plan to get some of mine up but it was the middle of the day and I didn't have any. So here we go. its very annoying watching a film in the dark or dark scenes in games. The first one the picture makes it look a little more extreme than it was on a totoally black screen but it is still very noticeble. What's everyones thoughts? Anyone got any for comparison?

The IMGlobal, the image immediately below it, and Insidious images look pretty good. I'm thinking the source might be a problem. Google 'black image jpg download'. Put one solid black jpg up full screen. What does its leakage look like? Jack E/NJ

Here are some pictures with the black background. I'm not sure the source was bad? it was from netflix? it's probably even more noticeable on the black background picture. Whar are you thoughts?

Sure doesn't look like a black jpg. How about solid r b or g jpgs? Jack E/NJ

Google 'red jpg' 'blue jpg' & 'green jpg'. Right click, copy image and paste in paint or some other imaging software. Jack E/NJ

Hey sorry for the delayed reply had my daughter all weekend and couldn't get on. So I used the images you sent and set them as a background an no noticeable light around the edges of the screen. However I have attached further pictures of the laptop starting up and a couple of in game screens all of which is where the light is always noticeable such as when watching films as before and playing games..

The RBGs look excellent.  The Predator logo screen looks real good too. Is it the BIOS screen immediately before Windows loads? Jack E/NJ

  • I think it's not a problem with the display. maybe it's too much torque on the screws fixed the display?

Seems all pretty normal to me but as @egydiocoelho stated you can try to relieve the pressure on the display by release the screws a bit

Yes, it is the screen that you get when starting the laptop. So if the RGB's look good, any idea why in normal use in games, films or anytime the screen is dark am I able to see white light coming through all around the edges of the screen?

I have never undone a screen before. Is this single to do myself?
  • would be a similar procedure to this

Yes my laptop is under warranty. I have only had it just over a month..
  • So I think you should contact Acer's technical support and ask if this procedure violates or not the warranty, or you can send the notebook so that the technician releases the screws a little more, so that they do not get too much torque , reducing the bleeding of light.

Looking at the video it looks a bit tricky and probably will invalidate the warranty. But I'll ask and see what they will do. Problem is having to pay for shipping costs to them.. costs a fortune!
