Acer CB-515-1HT Screen not working

Hi all,
  First post here and looking for some answers. Last March I bought an Acer 15" CB515-1HT-C2AE from target. I have used it sporadically for the last 9 months and it has worked perfectly. Over last week, however, I went to turn it on and the screen no longer came on. The blue light on the side turned on as well as the keyboard lights, but black screen. The light on the side goes orange when I plug it in and when I hold the power button down the keyboard lights go off as well as the sidelight. It seems to be responding just fine. I've also power washed it and tried the hard reset with the refresh button and power button. Any ideas on why this happens? I has not been dropped and is taken care of well.

I have a case open with Acer but I am worried I won't get anywhere. Even though I typed in the serial number and bought it on March 27 of last year, it shows "warranty expired" which doesn't make sense since it's not been a year since purchase. I looked online and can find screen replacements for around 60 dollars, but I am hoping it can be repaired by Acer. Anyone got any tips?

    Sounds like either the LCD connectors needs to be reseated at both ends or it needs to be replaced due to conductor trace breaks from the wear and tear of opening and closing the lid too much. If you have a case number, you should keep checking the status and get the warranty issue cleared up through that case number. You'll probably need your original sales receipt. Jack E/NJ

    I opened up the bottom case and reseated the 30pin display ribbon, no change. If it ya worn out due to use after this much time then I’m definitely not impressed. I maybe have 30 battery cycles on it. Problem is, I don’t have the original receipt since it was preferred online and picked up in store. I do have the order information on target.com though. Really hoping they will take it and replace it

    Target should be able to provide a replacement receipt if it's needed. I wonder if they sold it to someone ho registered it, then brought it back after a while. Then they repackaged it and sold it to you as new. That would explain the warranty expiration. You can also try a battery reset if it has that pinhole on the bottom.

    I actually work for Target and it was new when I bought it, but online receipts don’t stay on the site that long and it can’t be pulled up in store due to it being ordered online. Acer should take everything I have as enough proof. I’m just still confused how a product this new can simply die

    The number of battery cycles isn't the issue. It's how often the lid is opened and closed and the stress induced in the ribbon cable that passes thru the hinge area. If you ordered it on line, you either used your target card or some other credit/debit card for which statements are issued. Also, if you didn't register it, It's possible this system was previously registered as an  RMA which might  explain the warranty expiration.  Jack E/ NJ

    I realize the battery cycles have no affect on the screen and was just trying to make a point. A laptop that’s been used so little shouldn’t have this issue. I will wait out and see if Acer takes the case. I was really looking for some more information on how this could have happened though. After opening it up I couldn’t see any specific wear on the display cable.

    You'd need at least a 10x loupe to see trace breaks/cracks. It would likely be in the hinge area as that's where the ribbon is continually flexed at sharp angles. Jack E/NJ
