Applications is already preinstalled on laptop in case any application missing then you need to download otherwise not.

Never do something with bios/firmware if you don't know how to install it is easy to install but 1st you need to take some precautions you can watch acer nitro 5 bios update from YouTube .open your acer care center to check bios version older or newer

You need to update driver to improve your pc .you can see driver version from device manager

Main driver to improve performance (gaming, tasking etc) is VGA driver.

You also download from acer support but they are recommended driver so if you have amd graphic card then go to amd official site and download newer driver by selecting you graphic card .if you have nvidia graphic card then go in nvidia official site and do same

You must check the date of your installed drivers because your support page has some drivers newer than the ones that are shipped with the device.
With reference to the BIOS updates, they contain essential fixes for known problems and if they weren't important they wouldn't be issued but you only need the very latest one as it contains all the other updates. If you need a walk through to update your BIOS let me know, you will also need a walk through to set up your Nvidia GPU but do the above first

And the zip file is it the latest version i suppose (alpha) I should download?

You can use either. After you have installed 7 zip you can right click your BIOS Zip file and hover over 7 zip in the menu and select extract here

That is a misleading answer that you were given or you didn't ask them the right question or they didn't understand your question, VRAM and RAM are two differnt things, VRAM is not upgradeable it is part of the Graphics card and is used for video display. You can upgrade your regular RAM to 16 x 16gb for a total of 32gb. Table below is from the service guide for your model and is the official tested RAM The other links are to Crucial for RAM guaranteed by them to be compatible for your exact model, I write down the part number and order from Amazon it's faster and cheaper, I have also linked the RAM that I feel is best suited to give you 8 x 8gb for 16gb total. 32gb is way too much even for very demanding games

VRAM is basically RAM integrated in your GPU for storing graphical textures, such as 3D models temporarily. It’s also called dedicated RAM. VRAM is virtual RAM which is not physical it is built into your Graphics card (GPU) and shares your main RAM and is not upgradeable. RAM on the other hand is physical and upgradeable and is the memory used by your CPU

Just fill in the tabs exactly like this then click Search and download and install the driver or you can use this link to automatically scan your laptop and detect your hardware then it will tell you what drivers need updating https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us

Hey andylb. Could really need some help with the drivers and the bios and the and Nvidia GPU. After upgrading to Windows 10, if there are any drivers that haven't been installed, please run Windows Update to install the appropriate drivers the product support for my laptop tells me. I have done this but there  are still 22 drivers that I can download so I am kind of lost here??? I'v gone in on device manager and I can find disk drivers and then display adaptors. Are these the ones I need to compare to the drivers on Acer website because I can't find them there? Sorry I am all new at this and just want to get everything top notch before I start gaming. Been in hospital two months soon and I'm getting to go home soon so will be nice to start gaming as a new hobby and distract your self from all that's happened.  How do I find my VGA driver in the device manager because there are some to download from acer website for my model?  Sorry if I am being totally stupid but I do appreciate your help my friend. Have a good day/ Chris

but i recommend to download graphics driver(VGA) from your graphic card official site if you have amd card then go to amd driver official site and download if nvidia then go to nvidia driver official site

@christofferwessman Lets do one thing at a time, so do the below 1st and I will post Nvidia GPU setup and BIOS update in separate replies
I pray your recovery goes well

    1. You already have all 22 of those drivers and Windows will update them during Windows Update, do not install VGA or any of these drivers. They are there so that you can manually download them if you have had a problem

    2. On your support page instead of the Driver tab click the Applications Tab you have newer Acer Care Center, Acer Quick Access and Nitrosense, download and install those

Download the latest BIOS update and Unzip it, I use free 7 Zip 19.00 64 bit https://www.7-zip.org/
Close all running programs and make sure you are plugged in to the AC power, double click the .exe file and install will run, your screen may go black a few times but don't worry be patient.

Finally let's setup your Nvidia GPU

Make sure you do this below and always game on 100% battery BEFORE gaming and KEEP plugged in while gaming, in your Windows Power plan select High Performance when on AC and in Nitrosense make sure High performance is selected under "AC" tab

Go to the Nvidia control center and click Manage 3d settings tab, then click the Global Settings tab and change Preferred Graphics processor from Auto select to your Nvidia GPU, do this by clicking the downward arrow to the right of Auto Select and select the Nvidia GPU. Then under the Program Settings tab select the programs and games that you want to run on the Nvidia GPU. Do the same under the Set PhysX Configuration tab

When I'm setting up my nvidia and go to choose  what programs on the computer I want to apply settings to I can only find one game. I have loads on Steam so just wondered if you knew why these are not showing. Just downloaded and installed a game from gog.com today called Disco Elysium but this was not in the list of programs and games I could choose  to run on the Nvidia GPU either? Reason for this? Then regarding when you said that in your Windows Power plan select High Performance when on AC and in Nitrosense make sure High performance is selected under "AC" tab can you be more precise? All new to this sorry for the stupidness!!!! / Chris

First you are not stupid, don't worry about not finding the games as long as long as you have "High performance Nvidia processor" selected under the Global tab, that way the Nvidia is the default unless otherwise specified. To find a specific game under the Programs tab you need to navigate to either Program File or Program X86, then open the game folder and double click the .exe file but as I said don't worry if you can't find them.
In the Nitrosense app at the bottom left you can choose to run at High Performance under the AC tab. For now don't worry about the Windows high performance unless you experience game lag, stuttering or low fps. Basically when gaming on AC you do not want your CPU throttling back because of a Power Saver Mode being selected

Hey Andy, thank's I am really trying my best to recover but it's gonna be tough. I wanna thank you for all your help! Got a nother question if ok?,lol. I contacted Acer support if I could update my VGA and RAM and I got this answer:

As per the service guide your unit can support VRAM GDDR5 .

When upgrading the NORMAL ram  you will improve performance of your unit, experience faster browsing, better gaming and more space for programs to run.

You can upgrade your RAM however please note that the machine was only tested on 4GB.

I'm wondering if there Is normal Ram and some other kind of RAM?? This sounds strange to me. Then I also need to find this VRAM GDDR5. I am going to check Acer website if it is for download otherwise I suppose I will have to google it or something. Finally how can I find out what VRAM is currently installed on my computer? Just wanted to double check with the master before I do anything😉

As for your VGA driver leave it alone unless it is newer than your current one and just update the Nvidia drivers from the link below, the VGA driver is for your dedicated GPU and performs routine video display functions of your Dedicated GPU, if it is newer then update the VGA driver first then after restarting etc update the Nvidia Discrete GPU

Thank's so much my friend. Very appreciated 😁😎. Just wondering how I can see what VGA driver I currently have so I know the name of it cause I suppose an updated driver will have the same name but have a newer version date on the download site? Gonna go in on the link you provided and have a look at nvidia drivers and see what I can find 🤞 Is there any way I can know exactly wich Nvidia driver I should download? Sorry for the confusion🙄🙄🙄🙄

I'd just leave the VGA driver alone for now it really isn't that important the Nvidia is the most important, what is your Nvidia graphics card
