I have Intel i5 460m inside my laptop. Can i upgrade it to i7 640m? Is it worth it? Will everything work ok?
Do i have to change something else? Or maybe there is better CPU that this Motherboard will support?
IS it possible to change Nvidia 420m to something better?

Hi,
Acer recommends only up to i5-580m and I couldn't find anyone upgraded with i7 CPU, in any case, it's not worth it because you are not going to see much difference, you can not upgrade the graphics, it's soldered to the motherboard, you can improve the performance if you replace your HDD to a 2.5" SSD, if you already haven't done it.

I have ssd already and 8gb ram. The i5 460 and i7 640m have the same power usage, CPU socket... Also 32nm. Why it wont work? Someone tryied 4 cores CPU. 640m is 2 core a bit faster.0

Hi,
You are right in a way, according to CPU upgrade .com, it's compatible but I couldn't find anyone who has successfully upgraded this model to a i7 CPU to confirm that it would work, if you can get a i7 from a retailer who accepts returns, you could try it at your own risk.

No, I don't think it will damage other components, it will either work or will give you a blank screen.0
