Helios 300 G3-571 graphic card not working

Hi, I have a Predator Helios 300 G3-571 laptop
i7 7700HQ,
Gtx1060 6 GB
16 GB RAM
Intel 630 onboard graphics
The dedicated Gtx 1060 is no longer working. Its not appearing in Device manager and upon starting the Nvidia control panel a window pops up saying that "Nvidia graphics card was not detected in your system."

I had been getting trouble with the GPU since past month. Out of 50 times of booting up, the GPU would function hardly once or twice. I tried Reinstalling the drivers, the OS and the like but it didnt work.

Is there any hope?

And no, I am not in a condition to buy a new laptop or get a motherboard replacement for this. The laptop is out of warranty.

If the GPU is a toast, can you please tell me how to bump up the onboard graphics VRAM? Its capped at 128 mb. If i can utilize the whole 2gb of onboard graphics then I will be able to play a few games on low settings.

I tried changing the VRAM using the regedit but it didnt work.
The bios dont provide any option to alter the VRAM. I have no clue why the BIOS are so primitive and limiting on this laptop. Is there anything I can do to get around this?

Please let me know if you need further information from my side to answer the question- I am desperately in need of all the help I can get.

Does the device manager show any broken devices?
    No. It doesnt.
However if you view "Hidden devices" - it shows my card there and on clicking it, it shows "Currently, this hardware is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

Does this problem remain when you update drivers?
Yes. I have the latest driver installed.
But now It wont let me update or install any drivers since it says that there is no related graphic card.
  • I suggest you use some live usb linux distribution to check if the video card remains disabled on linux as well.

Ok. I will try that too. Thanks for your efforts to help me. I really appreciate it.

As a temporary solution, can you please tell me how I can increase the onboard graphic card's vram from 128 mb to its limit of 2gb?  (Intel 630)
I tried Regedit entry, it didnt work and bios do not provide option of increasing VRAM.
  • First check if the problem persists with linux. I do not like to make these changes in regedit.

@OP, did you try to disable and re-enable Nvidia GPU driver from device manager menu? What was the outcome?

ZuLiX have you tried to remove/uninstall it completely from device manager then reset bios setup to defaults after performing a battery power drain (press hold the pinhole for 30s and let it rest for 2/3h to completely drain all capacitors/circuits) and see if windows will reinstall it again if not the worst case scenario its a faulty gpu if youre still on warranty they would replace the mobo but out of warranty a donor mobo its really expensive and hard to find hopefully its just drivers :)

I did. No change. It didnt work. This is when my graphic card was being detected but wasnt working. Now, I dont even get the option to disable or enable it because the device isnt being detected.

Thanks for the update. I suggest you to completely uninstall Nvidia driver by DDU in safe mode and try to re-install latest Nvidia graphics driver. You can find the tutorial for Howto here. And also I would suggest you to keep your Windows OS up to date. Let us know if you are still facing issue.
