hi there,

ive had my acer happy (aohappy) netbook and it suddenly wouldnt charge - bought a new adapter hoping that would be it but it hasnt.

im thinking it may be the battery as now when power button is pressed the blue lighht on the 'lightbulb' icon lights and then nothing. it previously had its 6% storage power left but is totally drained now, from all my trying.

ive tried taking the battery out, pressing power for 40 seconds and reconnecting.

ive tried to update the bios but obviously with no power it wont turn on to update.

that was both of the solutions sent from acer via email, even though id said id already tried that!

whats the best to do? buy a new battery or try something else?

acer dont sell the batteries in the store for notebooks so any help anybody can give me would be great.

thanks

so is the unit able to stay on with the adapter only?

    hi there,

no it doesnt, it lights up then goes off, like it is drained of power. had no messages/warnings/malfunctions previously on it. i had the original charger tested in maplin, apparently no power through it, so bought a generic one which didnt work either...have now ordered a new genuine battery so hopefully the battery is the problem (as i always used it with mains power)

so, update is ive bought a new battery which works - thank goodness - but neither charger i have charges it. so im thnking it may be the charging port? seen some other pages and posts about this. i dont wan to attempt to open it up and try and repair it, but does anybody know if this could be it, and if so how much a repair is likely to be?
