I have an Aspire TC-865 that I just upgraded with an ssd. I got everything working fine except the video driver.

I have tried to "Search automatically for updated driver software", and it says the best driver is already installed.
I have tried to "Browse my computer for driver software"... in which I downloaded every VGA driver package available on Acer's website for my model, tried each folder, and then having them all in one new folder, but it says the best driver is already installed.
I have tried the "Have disk" option, where I selected every INF, autorun and everything in the Graphics folder I could find... "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems."

How do I know which of the drivers I should be trying?

Do you know which TC-865 model you have? They've made a bunch of them, spanning both 8th and 9th gen chipsets. Does yours have a graphics card installed or do you use the onboard graphics? If you are using the onboard graphics the I think the driver you want is the Intel VGA Driver, not the one for Windows PE.

It has 2 HDMI and one VGA onboard.
Motherboard shows Acer Aspire TC-865 (U3E1). Core i5-8400 Coffee Lake
I have also tried the igxpin.exe for all the packages, and it says "Error: This installation package is not supposed by this processor type."

OK, so it is the Intel VGA driver you should be using. That will give you VGA_Intel_26.20.100.6911_W10x64_A.zip which you will extract. It creates a folder called (surprise!) VGA_Intel_26.20.100.6911_W10x64. From the Device Manager uninstall the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter then without rebooting install the new display adapter you downloaded. Finally reboot after the installation is finished. Windows should recognize the new drivers and use them instead of MBDA.

tried that but it wouldn't take...
But Windows wouldn't update... I went here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and to do an update, and when it rebooted, everything was back as it should be.

Hi @nr4509, sorry if this is coming late or someone has already gone over this. When you download the drivers from acer and install them. Once it shows that it has been installed correctly, you need to go to Device Manager > Monitors > Select your monitor > Update Driver > Browse for drivers on your computer > Let me pick from a list of available drivers > uncheck Show compatible hardware > look for Acer, Acer Electronics > ACR etc. > select the appropriate driver. It will assign it to that monitor as well as the icc profile that comes in the zip file that you downloaded. Hope this helps!

    Update:
Oops thought this was for your monitor and not display adapter. However the process should be the same for choosing the video adapter monitor except select display adapters > then the Microsoft basic display adapter

Its very hard to believe that "tried that but it wouldn't take..." you must have done something wrong? The Intel Core i5-8400 CPU comes with the integrated Intel UHD 630 graphics, go here to automatically get Intel's "Automatically update your drivers and identify your products and get driver and software updates for your Intel hardware at: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ or go here for the direct download of the UHD 630 latest driver, which is the 26.20.100.7584 driver: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/126687/intel-core-i5-8400-processor-9m-cache-up-to-4-00-ghz.html?wapkw=i5-8400#tab-blade-1-7 download the .exe file igfx_win10_100.7584.exe to your desktop and install it from there! Make sure that you check 'Control Panel" > Programs > Uninstall a program > Intel Graphics Driver and uninstall the old driver, its very simple!
