XV272U keeps turning off and on with Freesync enabled

I recently bought a XV272U monitor. There's a problem with Freesync - with Freesync on, the monitor starts turning itself off and on. The lower my FPS, the more frequent the problem gets, but it seemingly happens at high FPS as well. When it occurs, the monitor goes dark for about 2-3 seconds, complete blank screen, then it turns back on. What this means is, every second or third loading screen, in any game, the monitor goes black. I've tried different DP and power cables, same result. There's no problems with the monitor with Freesync turned off.

Here my question:
I've been in contact with the official Acer service center in my country, and their reply was basically "This is a normal Freesync function, lower your graphics details so it doesn't go below 48 fps". I've explained one more time that this isn't a real solution, because it doesn't only happen at low fps. I've showed them a video of it happening. I've linked them multiple threads of similar issues that I found via google. They kept stonewalling and saying "if the monitor keeps turning off with Freesync disabled, bring it in so we do some tests".

Are they right? Does Freesync make the screen turn off randomly? Shouldn't Freesync just turn off seamlessly at low fps, instead of turning off the whole screen? It may be that I've completely misunderstood how Freesync works. I'm losing my mind over it, any explanation would be appreciated.

No, Freesync should not turn monitor on/off or cause any display signal loss. This display should also have low framerate compensation (LFC) with AMD GPUs below 48fps. I don't know if Nvidia enabled that functionality when using G-sync Compatible displays.

    What GPU are you using?

I have a rx 590. But from reading various online threads about the problem (albeit different monitors with Freesync), it happens on both AMD and Nvidia cards.

Still nothing from the official service center. Losing any hope I had that this will get resolved.

Bro are you using AMD Graphic Card ? like 5700 or 5700XT ?
Try to Uninstall your Current Drivers using DDU (Display Drivers Uninstaller) Selcect the Latest Version & Download and install it......

Now Reboot in to Safe Mode and uninstall the Current Drivers wheather Nvidia or AMD and select the Recommended Drivers from the Official Site.

Restart your PC and it should be able to resolve the issue...

I did the Above and my Problem was solved, i mostly faced this Issue When Playing Apex Legends or when the PC was Idle

    " No Signal Error "

Its mostly the GPU Drivers Issue..... most common with AMD RX 5700 XT / Nvidia 2080 Super / 2070super / 2060 super .....

I am having similar problem with G-sync with that same monitor. I have multiple monitors in my system, if I unplug other DP connected monitor and plug it back in it starts working normally until reboot.
Tested on 2 different systems (1080ti and 1070ti) with 100 reproduction and workaround works.

Having the same issue. Made a different thread about it with a temporary (messy) solution: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/592642/monitor-xv272u-goes-to-blinking-black-screen-with-g-sync-freesync-in-multimonitor-setup

This is it. I have 2 monitors and a TV plugged into my GPU. The TV was the problem. And it even works as you described, unplugging it and plugging it back in seems to fix it until next restart. Amazing. Thanks for your investigation.

Glad it helped you! I tried reaching local (Russian) support, but they have not been helpful as I mentioned in other thread (Incident: 200326-001232). If you could raise a ticket with acer support about this issue and send them links to this thread, maybe they could raise the issue to a higher level and possibly investigate and fix.
