Acer aspire laptop 5738 uprade,

hi everyone,
I have an acer aspire 3738 laptop it is in great condition and has been in storage for years.
I would like to upgrade it and use it for graphics programs, photoshop cc, maya etc.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would be grateful for any advice.
The laptop has 4gb ram, 500gb hard drive and windows 10.
This old laptop is so well made and I want to upgrade the specs.

    Boy there are a lot of different Aspire 5738 models, the manual shows 5738G/5738ZG/5738Z/5738/5338 Series with different specs n each. Most of them support 4GB of memory max, but one supports 8GB instead. Do you know the speed of your memory and which processor is installed? The HDD/SSD is much easier, you can drop pretty much any 2.5" SATA drive in and I'd really suggest a SATA SSD, 1TB or so is very cost effective and will make a huge difference in boot time. It looks like the motherboard were built with three different chipsets, PM45 Express, GM45 Express and GL40 Express. Which processors might fit will depend on which chipset is used and which speed the bus is at.
