Hi...

I have a problem with my new Aspire S3/Windows 8... - The computer was promissed to wake up op from sleep in about 2 seconds, the problem is that it takes about 15 seconds to go to sleep and about 10 seconds to wake up.

When I put it to sleep, it seems like it enter sleep mode, and the yellow LED flash one single time, therafter it seems like it kind of wakes up again and enters deepsleep. After about 15 seconds all LEDs powers off. When I hit the buttom to wake it up, it takes about 10 seconds for the computer to get ready.

It can actualy go to deepsleep mode faster than to sleep mode.

Anyone knows the problem and perhabs knows how to fix it?

Peter

For som reason it works fine now...

I installede the Rapid Start Technology Driver, which at first didnt seem to solve the problem. But after som experiments it suddently works...

I´m not sure if it´s the Rapid Start Driver that did the trick or it just works by accident...?? :-)

    Good day

    Download and install the following:

    1. IRST (Intel® Rapid Start Technology) Driver

    2. Sleep Memory Optimizer

    3. Deep Sleep Settings

    Regards,

Do you know if that might work on the S7-391-9886? My UltraBook gets slower and slower. It is not too bad but takes a lot longer to wake up than when new?

Hi Peterkirk, Its the Same Problem here with my s3 windows 8.. Occasionaly it seems to work fine, bt doesn't fix the problem. I also contacted acer support and they told me to refresh my pc to stop this problem permanently. Bt it doesn't work either. 3days after refreshing the same problem occurs again. Resetting default BIOS Settings seems to be work for while. Bt after Connecting my PC to the power adapter, problem occurs again.. Smiley Sad Did you fix this issue? How to get rid of this.. pls help

I have the exact same problem with my Acer V7 laptop. Posted on the forum (http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Acer-Aspire-V7-sleep-problem/m-p/115577/highlight/false#M23533) but apparently Acer isn't interested in this problem at all. It's unfortunate because I think it's a serious problem. I can imagine a hard drive breaking while moving the computer assuming it's in sleep mode when in fact it's entering the deep sleep and the hard drive is still running.

My conclusion is that the problem is caused by 'something' changing the deep sleep timer from the default 480 min to 0 min which in turn causes the computer to instantly enter the deep sleep mode instead of sleep mode. That's why it takes so long. The solution would be finding out what keeps changing the setting to 0 and preventing that from happening anymore.

Does this also work for Acer Aspire E1-531, as when my computer boots from sleep it lags like crazy and I have to manually switch off with the switch just to reset and after that it runs like normal. This has only started happening in the last 5 days, before this it had no issues. the same when rebooting from hibernation runs like normal, only in sleep mode does it lag.

Same problem here on S3-391-6046, Windows 8.1 and fully updated.

On occasions, sleep function will work properly. Yellow light keeps flashing during sleep and system wake up, by either opening lid of key pressing, is very fast 2-5seconds.

However, on other occasions, and without any deliberate alteration to any sort of settings (i.e. drivers, power plan, etc), this normal sleep behavior is no longer happening. After instructing laptop to go to sleep, yellow light flashes a couple of times, but then fan speeds up and light goes blue (for a good 10-20 seconds), suggesting it is entering deep sleep. After this, system only wakes up by pressing power button and it does take a while.

This behavior is very strange because it seems to come and go without any obvious reason...

This problem doesn't seem to solved yet! This is what exactly happening on my both Acer aspire s3-391 and Aspire E1 devices. Both devices were fully upgraded to windows 8.1/Latest Drivers/BIOS.. But the same problem...

acer, You must consider this problem!
