UHD 4K2K Monitor keeps going blank and coming back on again while I'm using it?

While I'm in the middle of editing a document or something, the screen will occasionally just black out for a few seconds and them come back on again?  Any ideas why this would happen -- it's extremely annoying and frustrating?

Many thanks.

What model monitor are you using?

Have you tried a different input to see if it has the same problem?

What resolution and refresh rate are you using?

Do you have another system you can try it on to see if it does the same thing?

I have the same issue here with my Acer 4K2K.

There is a pattern to it - it occurs every time I use the display. Once the display turns on, after about one minute, the screen goes black for a moment, and then comes back on again.

The OP can correct me, if his/her details are different than mine.

    > What model monitor are you using?

    - Acer B286HK 28"

    > Have you tried a different input to see if it has the same problem?

    - No, I only use one connector: DisplayPort connector, connected to my MacBook

    > What resolution and refresh rate are you using?

    - 1080p30

    > Do you have another system you can try it on to see if it does the same thing?

    - No

Sorry you are having problems. We sometimes see issues similar to this when using Mac books. I am curious as to why you are running it at 1080p at 30 Hz? Do you have the same problem when you run it at the native resolution? I don't feel there is a hardware issue with your monitor, but it is hard to say without trying to test on another system to see if it behaves the same way.

I am using native resolution on a MacBook Pro with HDMI. DisplayPort is unusable because of the interference caused to my wireless mouse. All in all not a great experience so far.

I don't either. More like an issue with your firmware, Apple's drivers, or my choice of settings.

Apple has sold quite a few MacBooks. Hopefully Acer or Apple will figure it out.

So I'll keep checking for firmware updates from you both.

My UHD 4K2K Monitor keeps going blank and coming back on again while I'm using it?  I am using Windows 10 with a mini HD cable.  Is this a driver issue?

I've got a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) running macOS High Sierra 10.13.3. It has both a Radeon Pro 560 4GB an an Intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB, a 3.1GHz Intel Core i7, and 16GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3. It has four USB-C ports... and nothing else.

I'm trying to use an Acer UHD 4K2K, connected via HDMI cable attached to Apple's own USB-C dongle.

The display constantly and erratically blinks out. Sometimes a dozen times in a minute. The display goes black for about 2 seconds and then comes back.

This is unusable; whether Acer or Apple is at fault, the two are not compatible without a fix. :-(

Yes I have experienced the same and it was fixed with installing the driver. The thing is that Acer does not provide the Win 10 driver anywhere. Our IT support got it somewhere and it worked. However, with my current PC there is no possibility to install it and I am left with a monitor that does not work. Acer not doing anything to help.

Same here. I'm using it with MacOS, MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016). The black screen is pretty annoying. It seems to get worse when I'm playing video.

So I have owned this product for a few years now and I am only posting this for feedback reasons so Acer can correct their issues going forward.

    The issue:

This monitor will not maintain a signal from any portable device, it requires a full powered desktop PC to function correctly.

    Devices tested with this monitor:
    - Desktop PC (intel 4th gen i7, nVidia GTX1070) - Monitor works perfectly, never blacks out, tested with DP and HDMI
    - Surface Pro 4 - Monitor blacks out the longer it is in use, and the more power I use (software developer), it gets worse and worse. Tested with DP and DP->HDMI adaptor
    - Dell G7 (11th Gen i7, nVidia discrete RTX2070, configured for high performance mode 100% of the time) - Monitor turns off when PC under load constantly. Tested with DP and HDMI.
    - MSI Night Blade (8th gen i7, nVidiaGTX1060 ) - Monitor performs exactly the same as when plugged into the Dell G7

Now for the new Dell G7 and MSI Night Blade, I can output to my LG OLED TV and play games ALL day @4K without a single blank screen issue using the same output ports and cables.

Another note: The black screen issues can be reduced, but not fixed, by dropping the resolution to 1440p (2K) and setting the refresh rate to 30hz.

Conclusion: This monitor is rubbish, let down by poor signal conversion on lower power machines and graphics cards.  Acer please take this into consideration when you manufacture newer versions of monitors, as most people use portable devices these days.
