Can't flash my AOD150 BIOS with fn+esc

   Today I tried to boot up my Aspire One D150 (KAV10) and the power LED came on, the fan spun for about 3 seconds, and the HDD light started flashing but the screen did nothing. No BIOS or POST. The battery LED is green also.

   After searching the internet I have come across these instructions http://eric.chromick.com/aa1/aspire-one-black-screen-of-death/#axzz2HWxyJ2Te    I tried and it didn't work. The power LED doesn't flash like it says it's supposed to. I am using a MicroSD to USB adapter with a 4gb MicroSD (It's the only thing small enough to format to FAT instead of FAT32). I have downloaded the BIOS from the support site and renamed the KAV10.fd file to zg5ia32.fd and I'm fairly certain that I'm not doing anything wrong. I have tried with the MicroSD-usb adapter, I have tried putting it into a normal size SD adapter into the card slot, and I have also tried putting it into the normal size SD adapter and then into a USB SD card reader. None of these things work. I have also tried all of the USB ports for the two USB methods. I cannot seem to find anybody else on the internet who is having troubles with this process. Help would be much appreciated!

    Found the service manual and the instructions for clearing the CMOS and it fixed the problem!!! **bleep** you d150, I WIN THIS LONG AND GRUELING BATTLE!

    Hey can you help me with this? I have a d257 Acer Aspire One netbook where I need to flash the bios to clear the cmos setting. Thanks

    First I need to say that I AM NOT OFFICIAL ACER SUPPORT and that I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR COMPUTER BREAKS AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS. 

     

    Also these instructions are intended for the laptop marked D150-1885. While these instructions MAY work on other models, the jumper may be somewhere else. You may have to hunt down your own service manual. Now, what I found is that my problem wasn't with the BIOS at all. Like I said before, the instructions were for resetting the CMOS. I can't find the service manual again, but I do remember what you have to do. 

     

    1. Turn off the laptop and remove battery and cord.

    2. Hold power button for 15 seconds to discharge the laptop

    3. Turn the laptop over and remove the RAM cover (Need to take off the HDD cover first)

    4. Under the ram towards the center of the laptop, there's a jumper (two pieces of metal sticking out), bridge these connections with any piece of metal (PICTURE HERE!)

    5. While HOLDING the jumper bridge, plug in the cord and press the power button

     

     If it doesnt work, try a few more times. It's hard to hold the jumper while you press the power button. Maybe get someone to help you. If it still doesn't work, you probably have a different problem than I had OR you **bleep**ed up the BIOS trying to do the flashes. I was lucky enough to not even be able to get into crisis bios flash so I didn't corrupt the BIOS that was already in place. Hope it helps! PM me with any issues as I won't be checking replies here!
