Hi there,

I've bough recently an Acer 1 114-32 that comes with Windows 10S. I've update the last bios (1.17) from acer (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7527?b=1) and after that, Windows starts in black screen. There's no pointer mouse, and if I connect a monitor it shows vertical random pixels.

I've tried to boot a bootable USB to try to restore the BIOS but, even though I have enabled safe boot the laptop doesn't recognizes any bootable usb. Is this also related with the BIOS I have updated ?

I will like to know the steps how to restore last bios that it works for Acer 1 114-32, but you know... if I cannot use any bootable USB... Am I screwed up?

I hope not, and I hope there's a solution to this.

Regards,

If possible you should quickly return this to the vendor as defective for an exchange before the vendor's return policy period expires. ACER warranty repairs will take longer and likely involve shipping costs. Jack E/NJ

I must rectificate. I found that problem was related video drivers, not the BIOS. This caused me a confusion because I did a clean recovery but the installation kept the new video drivers I had installed, instead of replace the old ones.

    What I did was:
-Reinstall Windows 10 from scratch (I've lose the license)
-I have updated the video drivers through Intel. Intel Assistant installed 26.20.100.7212 version. ACER provides 22.20.16.4798 version, what that it is wrong.

    Two things were happen:
-ACER testers didn't tested the video drivers with the machine properly.
-Windows 10 is not doing well the clean recovery (because if it does, it could restored previous video drivers).

Yes, the Windows activation license is now embedded on a mainboard chip. It no longer resides on the HDD. Jack E/NJ
