The touch pad on my laptop is unresponsive. This is the second time its happened, it did this before for about a week but then it started working like normal again and now its back to being unresponsive. I tried to update it through the device manager but the touch pad was not there in any of the device folders. Is there anything i can do to fix it?

    Good evening Shmopboy !

First, you must enter the exact model of your laptop.
Does the touchpad not work at all or are some functions not available?

Hi, sorry to hear it. Kindly try power drain by following the below steps.

    Power Drain
    **********
    1)Unplug the AC power adapter.
2)Press and hold the Power button down until the unit goes off.
3)Search for a pinhole that has a battery symbol next to it on the backside of your laptop, insert a small paperclip in the battery reset pinhole, press and hold it down for 25 seconds. Then release the paperclip and try to turn on the unit and check.

If this does not work try re-installing the touchpad drivers of the unit, follow the steps below:

    1) In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.
    2) Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the touchpad driver, and select Uninstall.
    3) Restart your PC.
    4) Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

If the above steps doesn't help, try to download the touchpad drivers for your unit and check. Check the below link. You can enter your SNID number or your Serial Number or your Model Number.

Make sure that you have Advanced mode for Touchpad in BIOS, rstart then press F2  repeatedly as it restarts, move to Main tab and check whether the touchpad is in Advanced mode. If it isn't select then Advanced, if it is selected, select Basic
Press f10 to save and exit. If I have answered your question please click YES, thankyou
