TLDR: I want to give Acer ~$2000 for the 2019 Swift 7, black, with 4GLTE.  Apparently they like promoting their products without actually selling them.

Cross posted from: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/2019-acer-swift-7.828775/

I've been looking for information about this new 2019 Swift 7 as well.  In fact, I've been following it for several months.  It's hard to even say now if it's even "out."  I've regularly checked Acer's site, as it was always supposed to be released in May.  Sure enough, the SF714-52T-73CQ was posted on their site (the page you linked) on May 1st, but the only listed seller is through Amazon (which I find really weird for such a heavily touted laptop at 2019 CES).  Here's that Amazon link:  https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Lightweight-i7-8500Y-Back-lit-Keyboard/dp/B07PJLQ2QW   ...But it says "Usually ships within 1 to 3 months."  So is this laptop really even available at all?

I posted two questions in Amazon's product Q&A immediately, expecting that I might get an answer from Acer, but I did not.  I even posted questions on their YouTube promo videos, but no one has responded to them.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXrj7AV3dXg  and  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH1lZxgrKug  I've even tried emailing Acer.  Nada.  The only thing I haven't tried is Acer's customer service chat.  They'd have no idea anyway, so I didn't bother.  It's all so very suspect from a company that professes innovation.  I don't know what to make of this.  Shouldn't there be a lot more pomp and fanfare from Acer here having crossed the supposed May release date?  Where's my new and improved, innovative laptop?

On top of that, there are clearly two versions - the silver listed at Amazon and the black that is seen in all the media/photos.  I guess we'll have to wait even longer for the black one.

Personally, I'm looking to buy this laptop for work/travel.  I posted two questions on Acer's community page  https://community.acer.com/en/categories/s-r-series  and can't seem to get much information about when to expect this laptop to actually be available.  I need 4GLTE capability for work.  The SF714-52T-73CQ doesn't have it.  Previous models of the Swift 7 have had it - two of the three 2018 models have 4GLTE.  So I believe I'm safe to assume that the next 2019 model released will have it.  Whenever that may be.  Hopefully that's the black one.

If anyone from Acer reads this, PLEASE allow me to give you $2000 of my money so that I can enjoy the amazing piece of machinery that I know is out there... somewhere.

-Brian

I'm obviously clueless on hype like this Brian. Like almost all ACER users who post on these user community boards. Only moderators are ACER employees or ACER sub-contractors. And moderators don't post often --- especially on stuff like this --- probably because they're as clueless as the rest of us users. So I'm gonna guess the sales & production divisions have simply had a failure to communicate. Or maybe not.

Aren't you even a little bit curious on how the sales division chatline popup department responds? You could also try the sales division phone department 1-800-910-2237 If the chatline popup is asleep at the switch. Tell 'em you got $K2 burning a hole in your pocket. And the only fire extinguisher is to spend it on a 2019 SF7 black edition with 4GLTE if  guaranteed delivery is on or before Memorial Day. That seems fair.  :)    Jack E/NJ

Hmmm? Tough question Brian. But I'd guess not today. Not to you & me anyway. That's because the first one off the assembly line early last Monday morning probably hasn't even been loaded on a slow boat yet. Maybe you'll get it by July 25th if its loaded by early tomorrow morning. Maybe not. Depends on how the stevedores feel after a long hard weekend off the docks.  But Amazon will probably accept your $1650 with a rewards card today. You better hurry up though.  I'd guess the price will soon jump to well over $2000 due to the tariff thing. Since you seem to be more excited about this than me, why don't you try the chatline anyway just for the on-line entertainment value. How's my guessing sound to you so far?   :) Jack E/NJ

    HI Jack,

Thanks for your response.  Your guessing makes sense if this was an August release date.  For a big-deal item that was supposed to be released in May, Acer has basically ignored the Swift 7.  They've put a link up on their site and created an Amazon page to sell it, but they aren't responding to questions there or anywhere else that I've tried.  It's almost as if it isn't a priority for them - maybe it isn't.  With all the lead up going on this year from CES to on-stage conventions with the CEO bragging about it, web pages touting  it as the next big thing from Acer, to promotional YouTube videos, and all the other ways they've been promoting the new Swift 7 (even here in this forum with the sticky at the top of this page), they aren't living up to the expectations that they set.  Other companies at least announce a delay, or change the release date.  Acer is either ignoring the reality of progress for this device or they are ignoring their customers.

What do I want?  I'd like someone from Acer to answer any one of the many questions I've posted in various places.  When will this *actually* be available?  When will the black version be available for purchase?  Will one of the models they make have 4G LTE capability?  If so when does that one come out?

I'm eager to hear something.  Anything.

A wonderful and very accurate statement!  I definitely have that hole burning in my pocket.
Thanks for those contact points.  I'll try both of those and let you know what I find out.

    Thanks Jack.
