Hi,

I've got a Spin SP314-51-P0WG which does not boot anymore. The problem began after the laptop froze and I shut it down by long pressing the power button.

BIOS does not offer any options regarding booting at all, see the pictues attached. I can't boot from a USB Stick either.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks!

Shut the machine completely off. Remove the charger. On the bottom, gently insert a paperclip into the battery reset pinhole of 10 seconds to disconnect the battery. Then let the machine rest for 15 minutes. Then plug the charger back in and try to turn it on again. Jack E/NJ

Thank you! Unfortunately that didn't change anything.

    Any other ideas?

    (1) What HDD and/or SSD is your system supposed to be equipped with?
    (2) Is your boot stick MBR or GPT partitioned?

I only know it's a 128gb ssd, nothing else (didn't want to open the case)

    USB Stick is mbr formatted

mahlke2k1  You cannot boot from an MBR partitioned stick with UEFI bootstrapper. You should use Rufus to convert it to GPT partition for UEFI bootstrap, FAT32 format and load the operating system iso.

The 128GB boot drive has somehow lost the operating system. If this was a factory Win10 system, you can try to recover it by shutting the system completely off. Then turn it back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. A recovery screen should appear as in the video below if the boot drive's hidden recovery partition is still intact. You will have a choice of try to refresh your system while saving your personal files or reset the system to a factory fresh state by erasing everything. Jack E/NJ

So alt f10 didn't do anything. However, I created a USB boot medium like you said with Rufus, and I was able to boot. So far so good, but none of the repair options worked. When I try to reinstall windows I get the message that I cannot install in the ssd. I only get the error message you can see on the image attached. I can't format the drive and when I click on new it just waits a few seconds but nothing happens

OK. At the command prompt X:\>.
Then enter 'diskpart' to get to the DISKPART> prompt and enter 'list disk'
    DISKPART> list disk

OK. Enter the follow diskpart commands.
    DISKPART> select disk 0
    DISKPART> clean
    DISKPART> convert gpt
    DISKPART> list disk

Make sure the last command results in disk 0 GPT column has * mark.

    Then exit
    DISKPART>exit

    Then try to install again.

When I enter convert gpt it takes a while then I get "diskpart has encountered an error: the system cannot find the file specified"

This is an error reading the flash drive, not the SSD. Try another USB port. Jack E/NJ

I tried all ports and even tried a different flash drive. Now the error message has changed. Now I get an I/O device error, with both drives

OK. Get back to DISKPART> prompt.
    DISKPART> list disk
    DISKPART> select disk 0
    DISKPART> list volume

    What does it show?
