I had my Acer Aspire One repaired but web pages will not open in any browser. What can I do?

When I could not get any image on my  screen I took it to Staples to get it repaired.  They sent it out to their depot and replaced or repaired the mother board.  It is great now but I cannot open any web pages.  I talked to a tech a ATT which services my  Mobile Hot Spot and it was determined hat there is no problem with the device.  In fact the computer says it is connected and browsers open but all of them fail to open any web page when I try to search.  What can be done?

Have you run the Network Troubleshooter?

Yes, I ran it and ond looked up all of the related help and support articles I could find (luckily I have another laptop I was able to do it on).  It appears to be a DNS error but I tied all of the suggestions to fix it and none worked.  I can't do a Microsoft Fix it because it would require an Internet connection, whihc is what I am trying to fix.  Is there anything else I can try?  If not, who would I need to contact to solve it?  I never know if it is the computer manufacturer'a, the software maker or the ISP's fault when I run into trouble>  How does one determine that?

Great questions.  It can be very hard to determine, in the middle of an issue, where the fault is.

What IP address are you getting for the adapter?

    169.x.x.x

    192.x.x.x

    something else?

Can you go to a command prompt and type:

    ipconfig /release

    then

    ipconfig /renew

Then check your IP address again.
