Is it ok to disable intel RST?
I've upgraded to ssd yet the boot time still suffers from a few seconds due to it.
Setup as follows: SSD as OS drive+ HDD as backup. Any advice would help.

Thanks!

It's a WD green 240gb m.2 ssd and the laptop is a Acer E5-475g. A friend of mine have a look at my laptop just today and told me I should'nt worry too much about the boot time of the laptop since its actually fast with the upgrade on his opinion. I did some cleanup with the startup programs. Did some benchmarks and sadly after some inital test, it suggests that sometimes its fast as intended and sometimes not. I do plan to switch the m.2 ssd with samsung evo 860 at some point in time, maybe 4th quarter this year, since samsung ssd's here are more pricey than other ssd brand. Should I leave IRST enabled on startup or off? Thanks for the advice!

    Hi,
Yes, leave the IRST enabled in startup.

    Hi,
If you are asking about switching to AHCI mode in BIOS, yes you can do that.

    Hi,
If you are asking about switching to AHCI mode in BIOS, yes you can do that.

I was checking that before, but now you mention it, my bios doesn't offer any option on SATA mode rather the settings only offered in my bios are:
    Wake on LAN
    Touchpad
    Lid Open Resume
Wake on Usb While Lid closed
and so on upto GPT partition record

Never bothered upgrading the bios cause I heard that acer laptops tend to brick when one tries to upgrade bios or gpu since Acer have they're own product drivers outside Intel or manufacturer drivers.

Is there any way to change or at know that laptop is configured to ACHI mode? Thanks!

    Hi,
Where were you trying to disable Intel RST which you mentioned in the original post?

Boot time seems to slow a few seconds with IRST enabled and I am using a ssd to boot. So I was thinking I probably just missed a few settings. Pictures might help or not for reference.

The ssd is a m.2 type. I just simply installed the ssd, cloned my hdd with the os on it, set the ssd as first boot in bios, removed the hdd to have the laptop get use to boot with the ssd. Never touched settings on IRST since it was pre-installed with the laptop. It's noticeably faster but I think the boot time is a few seconds slower due to IRST. I was hoping if its fine to disable it or simply keep it on since it's only a few seconds slower. Maybe something with settings I might have missed. Any advice would help. Thanks!

    Hi,
Yes, leave it as it is, the system may get faster after using it for sometime(few reboots), what's the make of the SSD and the laptop model? Also try disabling unnecessary startup programs in Task Manager.
You can also try using this benchmark program to check the speed, CrystalDiskMark  download from here:https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskmark/
