Aspire ES1 Cluster of keys not working

Last night a cluster of keys stopped working (from U to P, J to ; and M). Tried deleting the driver, upon restart the keys work in the lock screen but fail after that.
Device manager says all is fine, even though its not. Having to use an external USB keyboard which sucks.
Any suggestions? I don't have the money to replace it. :(

    never mind, fixed it after realising number lock was on! not sure why it didn't imput the numbers...

    There is a possibility that the flat cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard is misplaced or damaged.
    You should see.
