My default ram is 4gb DDRL 1600 MHz 1.35v SODIMM then I had bought a Kingston 8gb DDR3L 1600 MHz 1.5v SODIMM ram, then I installed the new 8gb ram, and Windows wouldnt detect the Ram but CPU-Z detects it, the problem is, why my new 8gb ram wouldnt read by Windows 10? Is it because of the difference in voltage? Default is 1.35v then I installed a 1.5v? Can anyone help me? :( Thanks in Advance

    Good afternoon foureyes27 !

DDR3L is backward compatible with DDR3 but not with DDR4.
In addition, if your machine is standard 1.35v, 1.5v memories can damage your equipment.

The memories should follow the standard of the laptop and be identical.

Check the bios if there is any option available to set the voltage of the RAMs in 1.35v
But the ideal is that they are identical.

I tried also installing only 1 ram(8gb 1.5v), and my laptop wouldn't boot or stack in boot.

In that case it is probably due to the fact of the voltage.
There is a possibility that the memory stick may be defective.

My friend told me earlier that he also installed a RAM, but his default is 1.5v, and he installed 1.35v and works totally fine, maybe the issue here is the voltage right? :( So I guess, I just sell this ram online, sad reax

By the service manual, this is the information to support the memories:

    DDR3L 1.35v

  • What version of the operating system is installed? 32bit versions only accept up to 4GB of RAM! 64bit versions, accept ram memories above 4gb ram!
The rams memories are identified in the information section of bios!

As mentioned by colleague Egydio, confirm whether your Windows is 32 or 64bit.

So actually being a 1.5v memory will not work on your system.

Yah sir, and that's very sad :( first time upgrading my laptop, I didn't know about the voltage, but before I bought it, I saw it's okay to use low voltage rams, but I guess sometimes what you find in the internet isn't true
