Why does my G6-710 freeze video and audio periodically for 5 seconds, and how do I make it stop?

Yes, I am very sure that my drivers are up to date, and I didn't screw with the expert settings.
This started ever since I got it (about a year ago). At first I thought that that's just what Acer computers do to refresh themselves or something. But it's getting very annoying now, because the Discord voice chat glitches out every time that it does this. I'm sure that I'm not the only one having this issue, but I haven't found the solution yet. Can someone please help me make this stop?

Predictably periodic? Or unpredictably random? If random, open Control Panel. Search 'button'. Click 'change what the power buttons do' in the left pane. Click 'change settings that aren't  currently available'. Scroll down and uncheck the box for fast startup to disable fast boot. Shut down. Turn it on again. Jack E/NJ

@JackE I haven't noticed a pattern with these incidents, so I think they're random. I'm trying your idea out now.
