Acer XF270HUA. 10BIT OR NOT?

In my AMD settings it gives the option to set the display to 10bpc. However if I try to apply it the screen goes blank for a moment then comes back still at 8bpc. The AMD settings panel then goes all semi-transparent and I have to kill it and relaunch it.

However if I play a movie with MadVR as my renderer set to 10bit or above and check the display information with Ctrl-J, it shows it is outputting as 10bit, Fullscreen Exclusive via DX11.

I cannot find ANY specification on this monitor about the color bit depth.

    10bit setting is wrong.

your monitor support 16.7m colors, so it's 8-bit

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I have discovered AMD Radeon settings set the bpc to 10bpc when the monitor is set to 120Hz or below. At 144Hz it defaults to 8bpc. However I am uncertain it is actually displaying 10bit since test images show gradients. Which makes me wonder if it is only supporting output at 10bpc and not input (or visa versa?). Not sure what is going on here. I know some people have said only pro GPU's and displays support 10bit in windowed mode and in consumer setups only DX11 supports 10bit using Fullscreen Exclusive mode.

I tried that and the same thing happened to me. If your refresh rate is 60-120hz it's 10bit, only 144hz is 8bit. You change it through windows.

Sorry just reads your second post. I have a RX Vega 64 so I can't say for sure but windows is listing 10bit like you said when 120 and lower.

I found this info, it might be 8bit after all. https://www.acer.com/datasheets/2018/4831/XF/MM.T78SA.001.html

I'm about to install the latest beta 18.7.1 and I just also plugged my other monitor ito my PC my Benq XL2730z same specs just TN but the Benq has no options at all for 10bit like the Acer does, not sure if it's because the Acer can do 10bit but something I noticed.

Maybe they only list 16milion colors on the spec sheet of the XF270HUA as not to create confusion. It would be nice to get it directly from Acer.

It can do 10bit at 120hz and lower at 144hz it's 8bit the VG271UP does the same thing.

It could be the displayport 1.2 limitation, maybe if it had Displayport 1.3 or 1.4 it could do 144hz at 10bit. The X27 can't do 144hz 10 bit either @ 4:4:4:

It be nice if we could get the actual panel model/version, I think the A model might have upgraded to 2.6 from 2.3 (M270DAN02.6)
