The bios from Acer is buggy and needs to be fixed  . Menwhile add these to you  grub parameters  acpi=noirq pci=noacpi ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2  & Ubuntu should boot   without  non optimal ACPI

Worked brilliant, had to put these codeline behind every "quiet splash" entry in GRUB, also edit GRUB System file after installation and add it or it won't boot.
Too bad the system is very laggy (touchpad slow, videos are red, laggy), had to uninstall it :(
Don't give up so soon 🙂 . You should try installing the Radeon drivers from AMD and check .Should make things smoother .

Edit the /etc/defualt/grub file and run update-grub, changes will be saved after boot

Can you explain what exactly is the meaning of the error and the grub parameters? What they do?
The error points to missing entries in the  IVRS table in the bios which Linux is expecting  while looking for ACPI  .  The
acer bios seems to work only with windows ,so  we are seeing this error . The grub parameters are a work around for that , which disables
acpi on the PCI bus , which implies  non-optimal power management  .

Tried to install AMD-Drivers, didn't work, package manager sayed some amd-packages are currupt (after install) (even with redownload and md5 check), after also booted to "black screen" :(

    Hi
I am looking to purchase the very same laptop but only if proper linux support is to be expected.
Do you know by any chance if there will be BIOS updates from Acer to fix issues ( as AMD fortunately changed their driver policy there should be no more problems concerning CPU / GPU)? It would also be nice when a "Acer official" could comment on this topic because my buying decision and likely that of many others would depend on it.
    Thanks in advance and cheers!

After editing the GRUB and finished to install it, I got Ubuntu running atm with no problems.

After testing I found out that Ubuntu 18.10 runs way faster on the Nitro 5 than 18.04.
    Just for info.
