Use of Type C port

I own a Predator Helios 300 and i am not sure whether the type C port can be used to charge the laptop. Can someone help me on this?. Thanks!

    Type C port has a whole host of uses. Your normal, standard type C port is good for fast data transfers, charging your phone(not charging your laptop) and such but, if the port is Thunderbolt compatible, you can hook up an external monitor and/or connect to an external GPU enclosure, at sometime in the future when you might think your GPU is not enough for whatever reason.

    Correction not all type c ports are thunderbolt most of them are only gen 1 not many models have thunderbolt support it all depends on the specific model and no it can't be used as charger adapter as it was said it will have the same use as normal usb but can also be used for video output (if thunderbolt)
