What to do now?

  • Hi,
You could keep using as 2400 module will downclock and work at  2133MHz.

It is most likely 2400 RAM. No need to DOWN-clock it to 2133. To verify, use freeware program "CPU-z", available at website majorgeeks which is a reliable tech website. It will show you exactly CPU and RAM modules you have installed in your Nitro. VERY detailed.
By the way, you're lucky. The advertisement for my Nitro claimed DDR4-2666, but it came with DDR4-2400. I could raise an issue, but that seems counterproductive overall. From what I can tell, the 2666 spec is the "up to" support figure...Nitro 5 series will support UP to DDR4-2666MHz RAM. Individual retailers can configure the Nitro with something slower (which is cheaper for them).

I CAN confirm that I added an 8GB RAM module (in slot #2) and it tests and runs great even though it wasn't part of a RAM upgrade "kit". So for $49 I now have 16GB RAM running DUAL CHANNEL mode. I bought GSkill F4-2400C16S-8GRS, DDR4-2400 8GBx1 RAM module. I bought that particular RAM because it has low latency and SHOULD work with the Hyundai RAM that was already installed...it does. Memory is running at 1200MHz, CAS latency=18.

(the CPU-z info was for others who may wish to obtain it as well)
I really don't appreciate that (I think it's Intel) doesn't let us tweak RAM timings on this platform.
