I have Swift 3 (SF 314 51) laptop, one year old. Backlight of keyboard was working fine for past one year. Recently it is not working properly. It works only when system boots till login into windows. Thereafter it stops and never turns. I also went to service centre but they were unable to rectify the issue (they told me to downgrade the windows version). I have clean install of past Windows version (keyboard was working well in that version, but this time nope). still the same problem. Can some one helps me to rectify this issue. Thanks you for your kind support.

Hi gyanam, try with Fn + F9.

    Thank you thamahes,
Obviously I know the shortcut. Fn+F9 is not working at all after few seconds of logging into Windows. Means it works few times approxly 15 second after signing into Windows, then backlight is switched off permanently till I restart my PC again.

So definitely a Windows issue, likely drivers. Can you uninstall the releated drivers, reb oot and let the drivers get reinstalled?

Login. Open Control Panel. Try search  for 'backlight'. Click 'keyboard backlight' if in visible the left pane. Turn it on. Jack E/NJ

Thank you billsey, I have formated whole PC and installed Windows 10 two times with two different version currently using 1703 creator update. For driver I run driver booster software this time. No benefit. This is the reason local service center person were unable to resolve. If you have any external software which can control backlight, I would definitely like to try it. Thank you.

Aye!!!! How did you do this format and reinstallation? Did you re-install the ACER-flavored Win10 version from the hidden ACER recovery partition? Or did you use a generic Win10 version from Microsoft? Do you think you formatted the whole drive and wiped out this ACER hidden partition? Jack E/NJ

OK. Open Control Panel. Search for "restore point". Click on 'create a restore point in the left pane'. In the box that pops up, check to make sure system protection was turned on. If it was, then click on system restore. Next. Then  checkmark box to show more restore points and look for a restore point that near the date you lost the backlight. Jack E/NJ
