Predator 15 microchip cracked

Hi everyone, made an account to post this really weird problem... I came back from a trip and found my Predator 15 laptop totally dead, wouldn't charge, no lights on the status display, nothing. Checked output voltage of the charger with a voltmeter and it was good at 19.5 volts. So because my warranty finished a year ago I popped it open, and found this microchip cracked and missing a piece. I'm trying to attach a picture.
Does anybody know what this part is for? Can it be repaired (as in replaced)?
I appreciate any help, thank you!

Unfortunately that's a soldered chip and typically not replaceable. What you could do is look for a new motherboard and replace it as a whole.
Do you have the other portion of the die that fell off? Was the heatsink applied incorrectly? This almost makes me think it was tightened down too far, or otherwise installed incorrectly.

humm what's that the cpu or the gpu never saw that happened before makes me think that had no thermal paste at all or most none to heat up so high to crack like that it was a hell of a heat up u definitely need either to find a replacement board (not easy to find but with luck you might) or get another one and leave that one for spare parts only
