guys , it is a software issue not the charger (psu) problem. try updating or reinstalling the battery driver or reflashing the bios or do a comple reinstall of win10.

A complete reinstall of win10 -on a laptop, that isn´t even one week old? A bios flash when the newest version 1.16 is already installed? I don´t think so...
I tried updating, reinstalling the battery driver multiple times.
This "draining issue" seems to normal though, considering i´m playing the latest games in absolute highest settings possible.
What I did try, is to undervolt the CPU -no change in drain.
Next step tonight is gonna be undervolting the GPU.

I have helios ph315-51 model (1050ti) and don't have this battery draining issue. when plugged in and gaming it remains at 100% charged. perhaps it is a bios issue and future bios updates may solve it. which model & config is yours ?

After reading your update I've returned my laptop. I cannot have a laptop that cannot game longer than 4 hours. Now the Hunt for a laptop that doesn't drain batter while plugged in starts. I don't know why it's so hard to find information on laptops and whether they have this issue or not and no reviews ever cover this problem.

I clocked the gpu @ 1800 mhz, and set it to 850mV using msi afterburner. After multiple sessions and testing of bf5 i can confirm that the battery is now beeing charged instead of discharged. The performance drop is barely noticeable (considering the gpu has about 100 mhz less now).
But i definately had to go all the way down to 850mV in order for the battery to be charging.
Plus i have an 165mV undervolt on the cpu. It’s kind of sad that acer builds something that you have to tune (down) in order for it to work to our liking...i hope they come up with a future bios update that will somehow get rid of the limitation of amps that are coming in from the brick.

Looking at your reply i suggest you get a desktop then (best solution for you) because all gaming laptops will drain battery when needed while working (gaming) on demanding tasks for a long period of time on  A/C

@xapim I have a desktop, I have a lot of downtime at my work and its cool for me to bring a laptop there. Any gaming laptop above 1060 gpu seem to be the ones having this issue. I have a few friends who have gaming laptops who never had this problem. Hopefully the 2019 models have a better option for me. I'm likely going to get a 1060 and find a laptop with the largest stock power-supply.

It looks like you're in the market for a dedicated gaming laptop. These most always features TWO AC adapters/chargers to power the system. In general if you're wanting more than 1060 graphics (180-200W) @ 1080P with the ability to retain 100% battery levels after 4 hours (or more) of gaming; you're looking at a dual AC equipped system.

The more powerful cpu/gpu the more it will drain regarding the finding a largest stock power supply well u can keep looking but almost all manufacturers have the same specs regarding power supply but yeah u can have  a look at it

The maximum amount of power drawn from the AC adapter is defined by parameters set in the Acer BIOS to my understanding, so buying a higher power AC adapter will not provide more power.

My Helios 500 (AMD) doesn't drain the battery at all, but it comes stock with the 330W psu.  I can run it for hours and battery stays at 100% if plugged in.

This behavior shouldn't happen on a gaming laptop.

It does, and this is normal. Not all users prefer to carry around a 1/2 kilowatt power supply. Mine comes with a 180W supply.

I have a 135w adapter on mine and never discharged even once while playing 10h+ sessions non stop and i have in A/C since day 1 its been 1 year now always on A/C 24/7 but again my hardware consumes less power than the new 8th gen with 1060's etc... so this said it's completely normal a gaming laptop draining battery while plugged in as that is the main battery purpose and i had said so many times in so many threads here

Could you please post an image of your Afterburner mhz/voltage-curve and write out your "values"?
I'm not that confident in my skills in this and it would be great to have yours as an example to go by. Thanks!
