Inserting/Installing old 1TB HDD into new Aspire E15 using the empty slot?

If anyone could answer this question, it would help me significantly: I have purchased the Acer E15 (with 265GB SSD), and I would like to use my old 1TB HDD from my old laptop and insert it into the vacant SATA slot. After I install the OS onto the SSD, can I just install my old HDD and all of my data would be readable? Or would I have to transfer my data using the USB-SATA cable to get my data then format the HDD? I just want to use my spare 1TB as storage (keeping the data would be a plus but not necessary)

    Hi.

Steps to migrate HDDs to SSDs:

First of all, check that both hard disks are recognized, that is, it admits dual configuration, if it is affirmative, follow the following steps.

    Regards.

Just a quick note, my OS is installed into the SSD already, does that make any difference? I don't want to clone the OS to the HDD, but simply use the HDD as extra storage. (my 1 HDD's files exceed the memory capacity of the 256GB SSD)

Well, if it supports both units, you can pass them from the primary hard drive, please verify that you can use them in a dual way.

I can use them in a dual way. But both the HDD and the SSD have a Windows OS on it. Would I have to go to the BIOS Menu and make sure my SSD is the only OS booted? (I don't want any blue screens)

If, of course, the computer starts from which you select bios first, you must bear in mind that if you add files to the other hard disk you can damage the operating system, that is, it may not start from there.

Okay I got it fixed, I deleted all the partitions including the OEM/Recovery Partitions via Disk Management. Now I have 931GB of unallocated space to use. Now I can simply insert this HDD into my new computer and give it a "New Simple Volume" via Disk Management. I can finally use this for my storage.

Both my old laptop and new laptop utilize Windows 10 Home 64-bit, so the new laptop SHOULD be able to read the 1TB HDD now that I hard formatted all of the partitions (including the OEM/Recovery.) Now I should be able to set up my OS into my new SSD, then just snap in my HDD and viola~ all is good.
