hello all -

i just got a Predator Triton 700 today and fired this bad boy up. loaded up a sweet flight sim game (DCS World) and off we went. Graphics smooth as butter. However I noticed immediately the sound was terrible. the jet engines were muddled and the explosions crackly. i have nice external speakers plugged in and it happens there as well as the with internal speakers.

i tried changing the settings on the dolby atmos thing but it didn't do anything. i'm at a loss, any ideas on what to do? i really dont want to have to return it because of the silly sound issues but it's super noticeable and near game breaking. help a guy out!

Seems to be a problem that has been ongoing with Dolby. Try this thread as there are some working solutions: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/533308/acer-swift-3-sf314-52-occasional-crackling-reverb-sound-while-using-the-speakers

ugh that was a depressing thread. according to them there's no solution as its a hardware problem. this is such a bummer! i wonder if this is affecting all Triton's or if I just got a lemon...

still can't find out a solution to this issue. do any Acer employees monitor these forums that could help with a solution? if not, can someone point me in the right direction?

A quick solution is to go to sound settings for your playback device and change bitrate to something else, then change it back to what you use. This instantly fixes it.

Other methods here. It's a software issue as far as I can tell.

I know this may not exactly solve the Atmos issues that you are having, but what I did within 2 days of getting my laptop, was to switch Atmos off (right-lick on tray icon and 'turn off').

I did experience some issues with it, but most of the time it worked just fine, but sounded really terrible. The amount of processing it added, whether on dynamic, movie, music etc was just far to much and did nothing to improve the sound imho. Music setting was the only one which was bearable, but even then, it muted and messed up original recordings/games/movies etc.

I just leave mine on good old stereo and it sounds so much better with any glitches or processing - if a film has a DTS/DD or whatever track, then that obviously gets used.

I have exacly the same problem. Only solution that i found is when cracked sound up i switch from dolby to something else and back. Like munkay said right click on speaker from tray. But worst problem for me is that speakers are very quiet :/

It could very well be that Dolby is conflicting with the game's built in audio engine and the game developers haven't addressed the issue yet.

Most games that have a built in audio engine are set to auto disable Dobly on startup (such as PUBG etc).

Have you tried disabling Dolby all together and use the games audio only?
